Aurelia Rousseve Obituary

Aurelia Soupenne Rousseve peacefully passed away on August 28, 2023 at the age of 96 surrounded by her family in her hometown of New Orleans, Louisiana. Aurelia was born on May 19, 1927 and was the beloved daughter of Emile and Cecilia Nicholas Soupenne. Aurelia attended St. Mary's Academy and was a seamstress at Haspel Brothers, a popular clothier that provided jobs for many seamstresses in the seventh ward. In the spring of 1954, Aurelia met and fell in love with her best friend, the late Lloyd Joseph Rousseve, and they were married on May 5,1956. Their union was blessed with their son, Kelvin Joseph Rousseve. Aurelia and Lloyd were married for 50 years prior to his death. Aurelia was preceded in death by her parents, Emile and Cecilia Nicholas Soupenne; her husband, Lloyd Joseph Rousseve; her sister, Doris Soupenne Ellsworth; her brothers, Emile Soupenne and Elwood Soupenne; her brothers-in-law, Paul Ellsworth and Alton Rousseve; her sisters-in-law, Helen Soupenne, Delores Soupenne, Lily Soupenne, and Genevieve Ellsworth Rousseve; and her niece, Paulette Ellsworth Ancar. To cherish her memory, she leaves her son, Kelvin Joseph Rousseve; daughter-in-law, Gail Duronslet Rousseve; grandchildren, Ryan Joseph Rousseve, Sr. (Leonis), Allison Rousseve Lewis (Jonathan), and Madison Elizabeth Rousseve; nieces, Patricia Ellsworth and Kathleen Soupenne; and nephews, Clarence Ancar, III and Todd Soupenne (Brooke). Aurelia is also survived by her great-grandchildren who she loved and adored: Dylan Poole, Jordan Rousseve, Landon Lewis, and Ryan Rousseve, Jr., as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. She will forever be missed by her faithful friend, Mrs. Jacquelyn Sardie. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Transfiguration Of Our Lord Catholic Church, 2212 Prentiss Avenue on Tuesday September 5, 2023 at 11:00 am. The last time I saw Ms. Aurelia was a couple of years or so ago at Transfiguration Church for Mother's Day. She had her usual big bright smile, kind words and wonderful spirit. She will be missed.
