I'm sorry to hear of Ben's passing. He and my father were distant cousins (Bernius, Campbell) and I, too, grew up in the neighborhood and remember Ben on Mardi Gras Day at the Tavern on Laurel St. all dressed up in costume for the big parades. Great memories! I saw him a while ago and he didn't remember me, but after I explained who I was, he went into some stories about my Dad and some of the things they did growing up together. Craziness!

Please accept my condolences.

Sincerely,
Julie Campbell Hernandez

Ben - I am at a total loss for words - I cannot believe that you have left your family on Earth but are now probably much happier with your family that is in heaven!! I know Irma is glad to see her baby boy!! I will miss you so much and will never forget your craziness catching cabbages at Aunt Snookie's for the St. Patrick's Day Parades; and when you used to sing Dean Martin songs during the holidays at your house when Terry and Craig were little; and your "drinking Fridays" at the neighborhood bars; and pictures I saw of you and Frank Shooter dressed up on Mardi Gras Day down at The Tavern; and when I was little you used to bring me with you and Irma to The Tavern & Charlio and I would dance to the juke box . . . I will surely miss "jitterbugging" with you to "In the Mood". You were a "great jitterbugger"!! And you will remain that way cause my Mama is probably waiting for you to cut in on Terry & dance with you!! Ben - But most of all - I will deeply miss you!! I don't believe I ever thanked you for spending time with your Sister when she was in the hospital - bad timing, huh, but I do thank you ... We will all miss you . . . Love, Dierdre
