Cynthia Brenes Obituary

Cynthia Margaret Stoltz Brenes passed away on October 20, 2024, at the age of 81. She was preceded in death by her husband, Al Brenes; her parents, Paul and Gloria Stoltz; and her brother, Richard Stoltz. She is survived by her three children, Jeannine Alleman (David), Gretchen Brenes (Rob DiBella), and Michael Brenes (Emily); her grandchildren, Natalie Alleman, Joshua Alleman, Paul Brenes, Mark Brenes, and Sarah Brenes; her sister, Marilyn Young (Peter); and her sister-in-law Maureen Hunt. Cynthia was born and raised in New Orleans and graduated from St. Joseph Academy High School. She worked for the Federal Reserve Bank, where she met her husband Al, to whom she was married for 48 years. Cynthia retired from Archbishop Rummel High School as a member of the finance department. She loved gardening, reading, needlepoint, and sewing. She created many pieces for her family, including holiday outfits and prom dresses, and even made matching doll outfits for her grandchildren. Most of all, Cynthia loved spending time with her family and friends. Grammy was very proud of her 5 grandchildren and loved to talk about them. Special thanks to Synergy Physical Therapy for allowing her to sustain independence in her home, as well as Mrs. Terry Wallace, who was a constant companion and friend. Cynthia will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd, New Orleans, on Saturday, October 26, 2024, starting at 9:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass in the Chapel at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family invites you to share your thoughts, fond memories, and condolences online at www.greenwoodfh.com
