To the family of Cpl. David S. Stewart,
I recently learned about David and the sacrifices he made for our country. Our baseball team is honoring fallen heroes and we each had the privilege of wearing their names on the back of our jerseys, and I got to wear David’s name. I read his story and learned that he was brave and selfless. Thank you David for all you have done.

Bear,
It was a pleasure working with you at the USDA research station. Thank you for making my life better by fighting for my freedom.
A few years back I finally played World of War craft. It was similar to the Everquest you talked about. Sure enough I enjoyed pummeling through easier parts of the game as I became more powerful just as you described. I thought about you as I played it.
I miss you this memorial day weekend. Thank you for being a hero.

I want the family to know I am so sorry for your loss of David. There is something I need to send to the family. In St Louis during the week of 9/11 Anniversary there was a display in Forest Park on Art Hill, a display of flags to remember and honor each military personnel killed since 9/11/01 from the War on Terror. Each flag was dedicated. I don't know how I did it, but I bought the flag dedicated to David. I want to send you David's Flag.
I know you may be concerned being contacted by a stranger. I am a volunteer for Missouri Military Memorial Foundation. If you would like to verify who I am and my intentions are sincere, the founder of the organization is Gold Star Mother, Chris Andrews, daughter Sgt Amanda Pinson was killed in Iraq. missourimilitary.org
This flag belongs to your family. It flew on Art Hill for several days. It is dedicated to David.

A son, brother, love, friend, a true Marine's Marine..... I spend today in prayer, reflection, & remembrance of a man I was blessed to love and be loved by. I thank God for every moment I shared with Bear and the Stewart family. Not a day goes by that I don't think of him. I can still see his smile, hear his laugh and feel his arms around me when I close my eyes. While I'll never know why, I now find comfort in God that I will be with Bear again one day. In the meantime I know he is up three looking over me, protecting me, and guiding me. I thank God for all the little Godwinks Bear sends me letting me know he's up there watching over me. I'll never forget the trips to the houseboat or parking down at Pools Bluff and laying on the hood of the "Exploder" to look at the stars and talk about our future. I'll cherish those memories forever. I am truly blessed to have experienced a love so true and pure.
One last smile. One last hug. One last look into your eyes. One last kiss. Just one last "I love you always and forever."
I miss you, Bear. I love you always and forever.

My husband was the Company First Sergeant for the unit at the time of Cpl. Stewart's death. I want his family to know that it has forever changed the meaning of Memorial Day for our family. Every year, we spend the weekend remembering Cpl. Stewart and thinking of his family. He was so sweet to our daughter when we first arrived in Gulfport and he quickly became her buddy. We think of him and LCpl. Waruinge often, but especially on this somber day and we are so grateful for their service to our country. I want his family to know that our family will never ever forget him. Semper Fi.

Bear, espescially today and always we remember you and the sacrifice that you made. Memorial Day in most folks eyes is a sale at the local car dealer, dept store, etc. But for us it's meant to remember the very people like you Bear that give me a reason to believe in something greater than this life. You were and will always be in our hearts and we miss you buddy! The swamps will never be the same. Tyler, Ben ,Jason(wormy), all us Hunt boys from Bogalusa appreciate what you did and rest assured you will never be forgotten. I remember riding in my work van and hearing about a lot of fellow Marines that were lost in Iraq that day and i instantly had a feeling like it was you too bear. The Lord had greater responsibilities for you. Your parents, fine parents, Joey and Sandra raised a great human being, someone who'd be hard to duplicate with the insecurities and selfishness these days. You're missed and not forgotten Bear, RIP buddy, see you on the other side when it's my turn to go to the happy hunting ground,Semper Fi fellow Marine, Trevor Hunt, Dandridge,Tn.

R.I.P. "BEAR" I dedicate this song to BEAR who as a US Marine Corporal served 2 tours in Iraq 2003 & then in 2005 where he died not long before his 25th birthday. Such a gentleman, selfless, loving, caring. from Louisiana, it broke my heart when i heard you had died, you saved me & my kids from domestic violence and i will always have you in my heart. You are a true hero. I still hold you dear to my heart, along with your family. I dedicate my life and my children's lives to you.................................That day we met i will always remember for all eternity.

We all miss you because of who you were, the man who gave his hand out to help others, the man who gave his heart and soul, a man who made you laugh when you felt alone and afraid, a man who gave you strength in the darkest of days, a man who loved his family and friends and loved his country, a man who will always be remembered for all those silly and crazy things but mainly the man who crept into our hearts with his warm and generous nature and that is where you will stay.
I send my love to you, your parents and friends.

P.S. Bear, you sent me an angel and he has brought me so much happiness and joy, he is a proud man as well, serving his country as like you a patriot and an honorable man. May you send him home to me safely and then return us back to La which is his state. Thank you.

Bear
There is a song which i think is ideal for the type of person you were. I hope you like it and that your friends and family like it as well. I understand how it feels to lose you, your laugh, your smile, your jokes, a good caring man, a boy so true to his beliefs and the way he was brought up to be such a caring young man, only to be taken so soon, too soon. With you gone, it will never be the same to those that knew you, whether for a lifetime or a short time, you were an impact on those whom you met.

I miss you Bear, so much everyday. I miss being kids on the river, and the way you used to tease me and tell me I was too girly in order to get me to do things I may have otherwise been afraid to do. You sure knew how to push my buttons, somehow you could always tell when I was too afraid to do something, and always seemed to know how to help me overcome it. I wish so badly that you had lived to see my son, you two would like eachother. He reminds me of you sometimes, hes got that same fearlessness, and always seems to know what to say to get me over lifes hurtles. You are my hero, and it hurts so bad still to know that we have lost you. I know that we'll see eachother again. Ill meet you on the banks of the bogue chitta, and when we meet again all my fears will be gone, and i bet I swim across that canal quicker than you! I love you and miss you, your my hero, and my sons hero. Although he never got to meet you he knows and will always know who you are.

Dear David,
In your eyes, I see the grace of a young man and a compassionate soul. As a Marine, I know you are brave. But what I see is a gentle soul, someone who retained his humanity during an inhumane time, and this is what we shall miss about you. May your sacrifice give us the strength to find alternatives to war, to killing and to death. Your courage, grace and compassion are in us always.
May your memory be a comfort to your mom, dad and family. And may your memory be a blessing, always.

To The Stewart Family and Andrea,
David (BEAR), it has been 3 years since you were taken away from your loved ones and friends and it is still hard to believe that you are gone as you are a great man and every day of your life you went out of your way to make it better for other people!!!
You touched so many lives with your generosity, your love, your devotion and your kindness which melted hearts and souls, you are a unique person and always will be and you will be surely missed.
Your family should be very proud of the son that they raised. You will never be forgotten as men like you are very hard to find as you are so unique that will never diminish. You are a true HERO and always will be.
I still remember that day in Rockhampton, Qld, Australia Sept 03, 2003 and even though it was a short time, you are etched on my mind, my kids did not formally know you (as per the poem earlier) because of their ages 1 and abit Kyle, 2 1/2 Hayley and 4yrs and abit Trevor, but they honor you by being reminded of what a honorable, decent, caring and sincere person you are, forever smiling and laughing, a true Marine, a true patriot.
I still cannot believe you are gone and finding out after so long that you were gone was hard for me after everything you did for us but in our minds you still live on in spirit but my heart goes to your family and friends closet to you, those you loved so much but left behind.
So God Bless you as you walk with Angels by your side and as you live in the purity of God.
May God Bless your family and friends and to keep them safe from harm forever.
Our hearts go out on this special but sad time, remembering you as you are, a true spirit. One day there will be a time when all will meet again in spirit and you will be waiting patiently for that day.

The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

To Sandra, Joey and Andrea
This morning i received an email from someone that i thought might have known Bear so i asked this young man if he could identify a picture that i had of a Corporal Stewart. To my horror, it is your David 'Bear'.
I am so sorry for your loss, i weep at this time in horror of knowing this, for the young man i met, a young man that guided me to salvation to a better life without pain, a young man that made me laugh whose southern drawl and politeness was something you do not see everything day. His jokes made me laugh for hours, his genuine sincerity was above all and his love for his family and his country was so proud, you could see it on his face.
For you i grieve with you for his loss as he will always be in my heart as i remember this fine young man.
I never knew he died as i had been searching for him to say thank you for all he did for me and my kids, the wisdom and strength but now i must say them in prayer so he can hear me.
May God keep you safe Bear, the Corporate Stewart i knew for such a brief moment in time sitting on an armoured vehicle on a very hot hot day in Rockhampton, Qld, Australia on September 3rd 2003, that will ever be etched in my memory. That is what Bear did, he ingrained himself into you and will always remain loyal to one and all.
May God protect you Sandra, Joey and Andrea for years to come, i pray that your pain will slowly go away as he is walking beside you and helping you on your journey with the help of God.
God Bless

Dear Sandra and Joey,
I have just signed your son's guest book. I hope the picture i had put in his of your son, David.
My heart goes out to you for your loss from a parent to a parent, he will never be forgotten.
The twinkle in his eyes were of honour, sacrifice and pride, his face lit a thousand smiles, he laugh made us all joyous, his mannerism will always stay in our hearts, his love and strength will be the guiding light for those he touched. He gave something special were no other could, he was a man that one would be so proud to have known and called their own and now he is in god's light. May God bless this gentle soul so he can bring us such life and joy.
This is such a beautiful memorial to a young man that cared about everything around him.

Father we entrust our brother David to your mercy. You loved him greatly in this life: now that he is freed from all its cares, give him happiness and peace forever. Welcome him now into paradise where there will be no more sorrow, no more weeping or pain, but only peace and joy with Jesus your Son, and the Holy Spirit forever and ever.
May God hold David in the palm of His hand. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. My deepest sympathy.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

Bear, yesterday you weighed heavy on my heart. It has been 2 years since god took you from your family and friends. We will never foreget you and last nite as the kids saw Ric Flare they thought of you. We are still remembering you in our own way, Rico tells all of his new Marines about you. He tells them all the good things about you and the stupid stuff the two of you used to do either at our apartment or yours. WE LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU OUR BROTHER, UNCLE AND FRIEND.

Paying tribute to Cpl. David S. Stewart, on the anniversary of, the day he made the Supreme Sacrifice for our country, with a Multitude of Thanks for his service.
Reading his profile, reminds me of my own youngest brother, also named David. KIA~Vietnam~1967.
Rest Well Young Hero, in the Mighty Hands of God and may God's Loving Grace and Comfort continue to be with the Stewart family.
Those who Made the Ultimate Sacrifice, So Many and So Young, shall NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.
My brother among them.
Those we love remain with us,
for love itself lives on...
And cherished memories never fade,
Because a loved one's gone....
Those we love can never be,
more than a thought apart....
For as long as there is memory,
They'll live on in the heart.

In time, there will come a day when the tears of sorrow will softly flow into sighs of remembrance. Your heart will begin to heal itself.
Grieving will be interrupted by episodes of joy; and you will hear the whisper of hope.
There will come a day when you will welcome the pangs of remembrance as a sun shower of the soul; a turning of the tide; the promise of peace.
There will come a day when you will risk loving, go on believing,
and treasure the remembering.

David was a very good and brave man. There are not enough words to express what he has meant to those he served with. You have much to be proud of. We pray that our Savior – in whose presence he now rests – will comfort you and ease the pain of this loss.
Your son was a US Marine and part of our family, his loss affects us all.
Please know that we have you and your family in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Psalm 23
1
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
2
He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,
3
He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
6
Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
This is a verse that I have found to be comforting to me during my husbands death. Remember that when it seems that no one else is round, God is still there with you! And he will be your rock!
My daughter,McKaLyne, and I send our heartfelt sympathy for your loss! God Bless this warrior, God Bless those whom serve freedom's cause! They are our true HERO's!!!!

I have never had the honor of meeting David, but my heart breaks just as much today as it did August 03, 2005. My boyfriend LCpl Kevin Waruinge served and died with David. These two young men were courageous, dedicated Marines. They will forever remain true heroes and will always be missed. This country would not be the same if it were not for the sacrifice of David, Kevin, and all the other troops who fought for the USA. Stewart family and dear loved ones, my never-ending prayers are with you. May the life that David lived inspire you to keep pressing on and finish your race of life with glory and honor. Know that David is watching you, cheering you on in your race, waiting for the day that you meet him in Heaven. Stay strong, and THANK YOU for your great sacrifice.

Mr. & Mrs. Joey, Jason, Johanna & Andrea,
It is hard to believe that Bear is an angle looking down on us right now. He was a really great guy & loved to talk about all of you to anybody that would listen to him. Rico & I made it a point to take him shopping with us for food when we went. Rico & him were always at the apartment playing the x-box or on the computer after work. We will never foreget him for the rest of our lives, because he was loved by us like a brother & uncle to the babies.
