David Wilson Obituary

WILSON David Wilson found well-deserved peace on September 27, 2015, after a brief but valiant battle with cancer. Loving husband of Cherri Gann Wilson, doting father of Adelaide and Evangeline, valued friend and advisor to many, lawyer, entrepreneur, valedictorian and band drum major of Jesuit High School, cum laude graduate of Tulane University, Order of the Coif of LSU Law School, and Eagle Scout; David made the most of his all-too-short time with us. Born on March 3, 1970, David was a lifelong resident of New Orleans except for his three-year excursion through the swamps to Baton Rouge. He enthusiastically celebrated Mardi Gras and all things New Orleans, and he did his part to bring Lakeview back post-Katrina. His intelligence and creativity live on in his two beautiful daughters. David is survived by his loving and courageous wife, Cherri Gann Wilson; daughters, Adelaide and Evangeline; father and mother, A. Michael and Georgia Miller "Lanie" Wilson; brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Linda Matthews Wilson; nephews and niece, Peter, Kelly, and George Wilson; aunt, Billie Ann Wilson; grandfather, Raymond Z. Smith; mother-in-law, Jo Ann Harmon; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Douglas and Lilian Gann; and their children Seth and Amada. David and Cherri's family and friends will gather for a celebration of his life on October 9, 2015, from 5pm-8pm, at the New Canal Lighthouse, 8001 Lakeshore Drive, New Orleans. A memorial Mass will be held on Friday, October 16, 2015, at 1:00 pm, in the Chapel of the North American Martyrs located on the campus of Jesuit High School, 4133 Banks St., New Orleans. For those who have expressed a desire to assist the family, the David Brian Wilson Memorial Fund has been established at Metairie Bank for the girls' education.

My heart is also broken. David was my godchild and I prayed for him every day. I didn't know he was sick. I last saw him at October Fest several years ago with his lovely family. May God comfort his dear family.

News of David's death comes as a complete shock. He was an associate at our firm during the '90's. David was very bright and had an impeccable record. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, children, and family. Louis Fishman, FishmanHaygood LLP
