NAHSE just posted a beautiful tribute to all of the founding members. I wasn't aware of his decrease in health when I was a student in New Orleans being mentored by Elliott, though I remember the fierce protection of his time by his family. Now I understand. He was an inspiration and guiding force for many African-American healthcare leaders today.

To Elliott's family,
I spent 45 years as a hospital and health system manager and CEO. I had the pleasure to know Elliott through our shared commitment to public hospitals and challenged communities. It was an honor and privilege to know him as a leader and committed member of our profession. I know you can take solace from knowing how many lives he touched and made better.

I have worked in healthcare for over 35 years, and always knew Dr. Roberts to be an exemplary leader, a shining light for young people entering the field and someone who always had the interests of the people we serve at heart. Whenever I encountered Dr. Roberts at events, he remembered me - and I'm no high-level executive who is well-known. He offered advice with a generous heart and sensitive approach.
He will be greatly missed.

I am so sorry to hear of Elliott's passing! He was such a smart, kind, quiet, unassuming, compassionate man/administrator/teacher. What a legacy he has left behind! I remember so many times when there were various problems or crises at the hospital and we needed an administrator's approval for something, if Elliott was the administrator he would listen to the nurse, maybe ask a question or offer a suggestion and then the problem or crisis would be resolved easily and with little drama. I am very proud to have known and worked with him at Charity Hospital. My sincerest condolences and prayers to Connie and his entire family! He will most definitely be missed! ❤

Mr. Roberts was one of my favorite people at PAC Physical Therapy. He was always so upbeat and positive and spoke so highly of his beautiful family. I will always remember him as a very special person. I know he will be very sadly missed, but very fondly remembered.

Dear Mr Roberts, you did a good job running Charity. Sorry you didn't stay there longer. I enjoyed working with your son, Elliott, when he was a med student and I was his resident. I know you will enjoy your Final Reward.
