Eugene John "Johnny" Fischer

Eugene Fischer Obituary

FISCHER Eugene John ""Johnny'' Fischer, age 37, will be dearly missed, not only by his family and friends, but by all whose lives he touched throughout his life. Johnny died of complications of Meningitis on Monday, March 26, 2007 in Houston, Texas surrounded by his family and countless friends. Raised in Metairie, LA, a resident of Houston, Texas, he is survived by his wife of eleven years, Leigh Chenevert Fischer, his two year old daughter, Ella Camille Fischer, his parents, Eugene and JoAnn Fischer, two sisters, Betsy Fischer Jaubert and Kathy Fischer Bradbury, six nieces, one nephew and his two dogs, Sadie and Rocco. He was a graduate of De La Salle High School in New Orleans, LA, worked in the family business, Fischer's Jewelry, and then became an extraordinary entrepreneur. His most recent position was with Administaff, Inc. in Houston, Texas as a sales consultant. Johnny made it his duty to look after and protect his family. He did his job well. No job done less than perfect was acceptable. He was passionate about golf, fishing, and nutrition. He lived and loved life to the fullest. Those who knew him feel lucky to have called him a friend, father, brother, son, and husband. Relatives and friends of the family, also members of the Semreh Club are invited to attend the Visitation and Funeral Mass on Friday, March 30, 2007 at St. Benilde Catholic Church, 1901 Division Street, Metairie, LA. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. and conclude with the Funeral Mass at 1:00 p.m. A Christian burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, New Orleans, LA. The family requests white flowers, Masses, or donations to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Louisiana Chapter, 4613 Fairfield Street, Metairie, LA 70006. Johnny was a great boss, I remember when He used to want a Moccino, johnny style: no turbinado and some other alteration. I always enjoyed coming to work, because Johnny and Leigh made it such a great and fun environment. They were both so good to me, and I can't believe he is gone. He was such a fun and happy person all the time, and he gave great advice. I will always hold that advice dear to my heart. I missed them when they left the store. My heart goes out to you Leigh and baby Ella. I pray and think of you both constantly.

To The Fischer Family:

Johnny touched everyone's life in a positive manner. His personality made him a pleasure to be around. Although we won't understand in this life why God called him home so early, we can rest assured that we will see him again. Also, our cherished memories of him will always bring a smile to our face while we are on this earth.

I was simply stunned by your call the other day. John was so in love with life and his enthusiasm was inspiring. One of my favorite memories of John is how he would light up around Ella. It is always very difficult to accept the loss of a loved one, especially when God calls His children home way to early. Johnny, knowing how much you loved your family, friends and most importantly, life itself, your loss is especially hard to accept my friend. I will be sure to pass along this level of love to my son, my wife, my family and friends.
You and your family are in my prayers. "Little Tev" and family.

March 30, 2007

I cannot begin to imagine what you all are feeling from the shock of losing such a beloved family member so suddenly. It was a privilege to have known Johnny, he was such a fun-loving and caring person. This past year at Mardi Gras, after he met Emmylou for the first time, he made a point of telling me, most sincerely, how beautiful she is, and he gave me a look-- a look that clearly said "Yes, I see that she is your entire world as Ella is mine." No words were needed for me to understand how he felt. I know he passed away feeling extremely blessed to have such a wonderful daughter, wife and family, and I know that as we miss him, we will all hug our own loved ones a little tighter reminded that life is precious and in many cases, far too short. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Seeing Johnny, Leigh and Ella has been one of the highlights of Mardi Gras for me for many years. Johnny was always ready to have a great time. He seemed to radiate warmth, joy and kindness - it was obvious how much he loved his family and friends. It was so much fun to be around him and it's extremely difficult to imagine Mardi Gras without him. Johnny was a wonderful person and he will be deeply missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this sad time.

March 29, 2007

JoAnn, Gene, Betsy and Kathy - how time gets away from us, it is sad that our children are called by God to live with him, when we have only had them for such a short time. We fully understand your pain, as we lost our son, Philip on November 11th due to a massive heart attack. We fully understand and know that our prayers are with you, Johnny was 7 years younger than our Philip, but I can still remember his cute little face when we rode on the Mardi Gras float and how much he enjoyed this along with his sisters and you. We will not be able to attend the mass for Johnny but please know that we share in your sorrow and our prayers are with you and his wife and child. He grew up to be such a fine young man and extremely handsome, please accept our sincere condolences and prayers. Please contact us at 225-294-7522. We loved that little guy before he even knew where his life would lead him - he was just so full of life. Our hearts and prayers go out to all of you at this sad time.
