Gabriel "Mr. Bigg" Jones, age 81, was born on May 10, 1943, a native of Lafayette, LA and a resident of Houma, LA, passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2024. He worked for Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government for many years as a supervisor in the Sanitation Department. He absolutely loved his job until he had to embrace his retirement. Gilbert united in holy matrimony to Pearl Bennett for 30 years and shared a blended family. He leaves to cherish his memories, his children Stephanie Ausama (Terry), Carolyn Woods (Darrell), Gilda Scott, Brandi Jones, Diane Bingham, JoAnn Mulligan (Aaron), Kathy Bingham (Jeremiah), Elizabeth Jean Porter, Veronica Ward (Kenny), Gilbert Bingham, Neal Bingham and Darnell Irving; two loving bonus daughters, Billie Jean Meyers (David) and Sandra Robinson (Ronald); 55 grandchildren, 100 great-grandchildren and 9 great great-grandchildren. He is also survived by 6 siblings, Joseph Cormier, Mildred Jones and Mary Rose Brown, Leroy Jones, Crystal Grays (Mary), Dalton Savoy and Wilbert Jones, who was his baby brother, godchild and also his son of Houma, LA; 3 godchildren, Sandra Hampton, Sanya Nelson and Wayne Jones. He also leaves to mourn a devoted friend, Robin Matthews. He was preceded in death by his parents Walter Jones and LouElla Sion Jones; nurturing mother, Francis Savoy Jones; two daughters, LaTanya Jones and Rosalind McKinley; one son, Edward Fusilier; one bonus son, Jordy Matthews; two sisters, Theresa Jones Nells and Juanita White; two brothers, Earl Jones and Wilbert Nixon; three Godchildren, Charlene Franklin, Sheila Smith and Broderick Brown. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Service on Friday, September 27, 2024, at Residence Baptist Church, 2605 Isaac Street, Houma, LA 70363 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation from 9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Interment Union Benevolent Cemetery, Houma, LA.
