Glenda Bartchy Obituary

Glenda Gayle Bartchy passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at the age of 72. Beloved wife of the late John Demetrius Bartchy Jr. Mother of Eric Laborde (Addie), Heather Laborde (Robbie Bogan), and Gant Laborde (Alicia Steadman). Grandmother of Remy Melancon and Luke, Gabe, and Mila Laborde. Daughter of Doris Zanca, and sister of Tony (Hazel) and Sam Zanca. Stepmother of Connie Caravella (Steven), John Bartchy III, and Brian P. Bartchy. Step-grandmother of Christina, Michael, and Dominic Caravella; and Ethan Bogan. She is also survived by a host of loving nieces and nephews and her beloved and loyal dogs, Ghost, Angel, and Leia. She was an elementary school teacher for 30 years in Orleans Parish. She last worked at Mary McLeod Bethune Elementary, where she taught first-grade students. Her favorite hobby was counted cross-stitch with her family of sewing friends at Accents Inc. She also loved dogs and supported all animal welfare causes, especially those for the North American gray wolf. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd., New Orleans, on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, starting at 9:00 am, followed by a Funeral Service in the chapel at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family invites you to share your thoughts, fond memories, and condolences online at www.greenwoodfh.com.
