Gloria Ferrera Obituary

FERRERA Gloria Knight Lee Ferrera on March 1, 2012, this lovely lady entered into eternal rest to be with God. She was 90 years old. Her husband, Carlos Ferrera, preceded her in death. Gloria is the beloved Mother of Gary Lee and his wife, Paula; Stephen Lee and his wife, Judy; and Clayton Lee. She was a doting Grandmother to her four Grandchildren, Marigny Lee and Cullen Lee; Ryan Lee (and his wife, Koli), and Barrett Lee (and his wife, Katia). She was also a proud Great-Grandmother of Kiaya and Kessler Lee, and Harrison and Landen Lee. Gloria was born in New Orleans, to Lydia Harrison Knight and Charles Knight. She was their only child. She was a most devoted daughter to her Mother and loving and caring not only to her family, but to everyone she touched. She always set a wonderful example, never said an unkind word, and always had a smile, a word of encouragement, or a helping hand to offer. She was charming and graceful, even during times of adversity. Hers was a life well lived, and her presence here has made the world a better place. She will be missed by her loving family. Before her decline in health, she was joyfully and actively involved with the P.E.O. Sisterhood, Raintree Children and Family Services, and The Metairie Garden Club. The family is extremely grateful to Gloria's caregivers that were with her until the end of her life: Stella Keller and Joyce Holloway. All friends are invited to join our family to bid Gloria farewell and celebrate her life on Thursday, March 8, 2012, at TRINITY EPISCOPAL CHURCH, 1329 Jackson Avenue. Visitation is at 11:00 a.m. and the Service begins at 12:00 p.m. The burial thereafter will be private. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, you can make a donation in memory of Gloria to: Trinity Episcopal Church, Raintree Children and Family Services, or to your favorite charity. Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. To view and sign the guestbook please visit lakelawnmetairie.com.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Gloria's family at this time. Gloria was such a wonderful, sweet and kind lady, she always had a smile on her face. We enjoyed living next door to Gloria and Carlos on Betz Place for numerous years before Katrina. She always treated our children as her own grandchildren, she had a lot of love to give to everyone. We love you Gloria. Love, Lisa, Paul, Garrett and Kendall McGoey
