Gus Keys Obituary

Gus Keys Jr. passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2021, at the age of 78, at Touro Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on May 2, 1943 to the late Susie and Gus Keys Sr. Gus graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. He received an honorable discharge from the United States Army and retired as a Longshoreman with the ILA. Gus is survived by his companion, Earlvina Jackson and ex-wife, Hazel Keys. Loving father to Shazell Keys and the late Gus Keys, step father of Zindell Anderson. He leaves behind grandson, Terrance Lash Jr. He was the brother of Clara Beal, Lawrence Keys and the late Eloise Butler, Donald and Frank Keys. He enjoyed spending time with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. A Funeral Visitation will take place Oct. 23 at Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp Funeral Home, 1600 N. Causeway Blvd, Metairie, LA 70001 from 10:00 am-11:00 am followed by a Service. Burial will take place at Providence Memorial Park & Mausoleum, 8200 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA 70003. The repass will take place at Lyons Recreation Center, 624 Louisiana Ave, New Orleans, LA 70115 from 1:00 pm-5:00 pm. For expressions of love and sympathy, please visit www.tharpsontheimerfh.com.
