Henry Charpio Obituary

Henry J. Charpio, Jr. passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at the age of 86. He was a native of New Orleans, LA and a current resident of Chalmette, LA. Henry is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Diane Burgard Charpio; children Jeanine Costanza (Larry), Henry J. Charpio, III (Debbie), and Jannell Charpio Masson; grandchildren Cassie Masson (Tre), Megan Jones (Shaun), Jake Costanza (Samantha), Jay Masson, Cristina Costanza, Mallory Charpio; great-grandchildren Michael, Caiden, Aniya, Savannah, Brinley, Shaun, Rhett, Robbie, Avery; and brother-in-law James Burgard (Dana). He was preceded in death by his father, Henry J. Charpio Sr., his mother, Anita Frantz Charpio; his sister, Joan Charpio Riggio (Felix); and brother-in-law Edward Burgard (Patricia). Henry was an avid sportsman who loved fishing and deer hunting. He loved family time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In his younger years he was an athlete. He ran track and played football at Francis T. Nicholls High School. He had a long career as a truck driver for Herrin, McLean and Yellow Trucking Companies. He also enjoyed coaching football at Vista Park and the Southerner's Travel football teams. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church, 2320 Paris Road, Chalmette, LA on Saturday, September 21, 2024, from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm with a Funeral Mass following at 12:00 pm. Diane, I'm so sorry to hear of Henry's passing. I have such fond memories of our C.Y.O. days. He was always such a sweet man. My prayers are with you and with the family.

It was a very sad day for us when he earned his wings, He will forever be missed. Such an important part of our family, but we will always remember the times we spent with him and we are so blessed with many memories. Rest in Peace! We love you! David & Wendy

I worked with Henry for years at McLean Trucking. He was a good man; hard worker and he made working in a hard job a little bit happier. We had many good times and laughs together. My condolences to his family and friends
