James Nichols Jr.

First Master Sergeant James Nichols, Jr. (Retired) affectionately called "Serge" transitioned from this earthly life to his eternal home on Thursday, December 21, 2017 in New Orleans, Louisiana at the age 90. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Laura Turner Nichols; his parents, James Nichols, Sr. and Martha Reese Nichols; three sisters, Emma Nichols, Sylvia Nichols Kilbourne (Walter Kilbourne), Vivian Nichols Walters (Aaron Walters) and one nephew James "Peewee" Jones. He is survived by his loving and devoted daughter Deidre Ann Nichols Jones (Wilmer), one granddaughter Leah Francis Nichols, one grandson Darius Alexander Cole (Deyshon), one great-grandson Kameryn Christopher Nichols, two godsons Aaron Walters and Lionel Cummings, one goddaughter Keara Muhammad, and a host of nephews, nieces and cousins. First Master Sergeant Nichols entered the Armed Forces and in 1947 transferred to the United States Air Force serving honorably in WW11, Korean War and Pacific Theater (Okinawa) War. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of Ebenezer Baptist Church and all neighboring churches; employees of New Orleans Parish Criminal Court, St. Mary's Academy, Good Shepherd Nativity School; members of the Mardi Gras Krewe of Oshun, Tyrone G. Foster and the Arc Singers, New Orleans Gospel Soul Children, Josh Kagler and Harmonistic Praise Crusade and the New Orleans Gospel Music Workshop New Orleans Chapter are invited to attend the Funeral Service on Saturday, December 30, 2017 beginning 11:00 a.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 2415 South Claiborne Avenue, Reverend Dr. Jermaine G. Landrum, pastor, officiating. Church visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Entombment Providence Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Honors. Rev.
