John Wesley Brumfield

John Wesley Brumfield of Metairie, LA., passed away in the early morning of Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at 12:30 AM., surrounded by loved ones at his home. Mr. Brumfield, aged 83, was born in Lincoln County, MS, to Clyde and Fletcher Harvey on July 9, 1933. He was head of the math department at Jesuit High School from 1980-1996. He was greatly respected and loved by the faculty and students alike. He was a graduate of Lexie High School in Tylertown, MS, earned his Bacherlor's and Master's degree in Mathematics from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, MS. He served in the armed forces from August, 1956 to July, 1962. Mr. Brumfield was an avid bridge player, a die-hard New Orleans Saints and San Francisco Giants fan. He was preceded in death by his father; Clyde Brumfield, his mother; Fletcher Harvey and his brother; James Brumfield. He leaves behind an adopted grandson, Corey Hux and adopted daughter, Mary Hux, a host of nieces and nephews and many friends who will miss him dearly. A visitation will be held from the Metairie home of THARP-SONTHEIMER-THARP, 1600 N. Causeway Blvd. at 43rd Street on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at 10:00 AM, with services beginning at 12:00 Noon.
