Joseph Donald Thomas Vindel

1991 - 2021

On Sunday, March 7th 2021, Joseph Donald Thomas Vindel was senselessly murdered at the tender age of 29. He is now our forever angel. He roared into the world on December 24, 1991 into a large and loving family. He grew up in Old Metairie, graduated from De La Salle high school, and earned a Bachelor's degree in Public Relations from Tulane University. He was a talented chef working for several notable restaurants until he acquired his real estate license. Joseph joined the supportive and talented team of Berkshire Hathaway and he took off like a rocket. He found his passion and calling and he was a tireless and talented real estate agent. In his personal life he met and fell in love with Katie Kreuz. They had a very bright, loving, and happy future in front of them. His beloved white English Labrador retriever, Lily, was his pride and joy and they were inseparable. Joseph had many pastimes, but golf was his favorite preferring to walk the course. Joseph was met in heaven by his grandparents, Jose and Rita Vindel, Donald Muller and Kathy Beaudette, his beloved cousin, Justin Gary Hayes, and his musical inspiration Uncle "T" Tommy Turner. He leaves behind his devoted and brokenhearted parents, Lindsey Vindel and Patti Muller (Marc Dunn); Step-Grandmother, Betty Bates Muller; aunts, Angela Tauzin, Donna Hayes, Margaret Muller and Kathy Orta; cousins, Michael and Cara Stirling, Maddy Hayes (Codie Adams), Sam Tauzin, Max and Jason Reed; and cousin Maddy's beautiful and precious girls, Ava Marie, Gracyn Kate and Livi Rae, and he was a proud member of the Turner/Muller/Greiner clan. He also leaves behind his exceptionally tight knit group of dear and beloved friends. Joseph's joie de vivre, boundless energy, and eternally optimistic outlook made him so easy to love and he will be dearly missed by all. We want to thank Lieutenant Melissa Marion with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's office for her compassion and kindness during our darkest hours. We also want to commend and recognize the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office, the Orleans Parish Police Department, and the Louisiana State Police for their outstanding and collaborative police work that will bring justice for the devastating loss of our beloved Joseph. The services will be held on Friday, March 12th at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 105 Bonnabel Blvd., Metairie, with visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by mass at 1:00 p.m., and then a graveside service at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum, 5454 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans. PLEASE wear a mask, so that we can all safely pay homage. All followed by a celebration of this beautiful young man's life at Acorn Café' located in City Park, 15 Henry Thomas Drive, New Orleans from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. where we can enjoy their beautiful outdoor space to share our favorite stories and reminisce.
