Junius Rogers Obituary

ROGERS Junius J. "J. J." Rogers, Sr. passed away on August 6, 2012 at the age of 82 years. Beloved husband of 61 years to Dolores Walter Rogers. Father of Carol A. Rogers, Hank J. Rogers, Sr. (Marzella), and Junius J. "J. R." Rogers, Jr. (Melissa). Son of the late Philonise Gautreaux Rogers and Harry S. Rogers. Brother of Roy Rogers (Janis), Joyce R. Touro (the late Jesse), the late Gladys R. Dugas (the late Alvin) and the late Helen R. LeBlanc (the late John). Grandfather of Hank J. Rogers, Jr. (Crystal), Melissa R. Bourgoyne (Patrick), Joshua J. Mott and Jordan A. Rogers. Great-grandfather of Samantha E. Rogers, Hank J. Rogers, III, Jonathan J. Rogers, Brianna Bourgoyne, Brooke Bourgoyne, Brittan Bourgoyne, Patrick Bourgoyne, Jr. and Holton Mott. Also survived by an expectant great-grandchild and great-great-grandchild. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War, was a member of American Legion Post No. 64 and retired from Union-Pacific Railroad as a switchman after 37 years of service. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOMES, 2100 Westbank Expy., Harvey, LA on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 from 11 AM to 1 PM. Gramps, you will truly be missed by all who have crossed paths with you. Thank you for being one of the strong men involved in Pnuts life, I know he will forever treasure that. My heart aches for Granny, J.R., Carol, Hank, Marzella, Hank Jr. & Melissa. Earths loss is Heavens gain; what a loving angel they have. Our prayers are with his family. Mr. Rogers was a genuinely good person who will be missed by many of us. My best memories with him are that he always seemed happy to see me and he always had something interesting to talk about.
