Melvin Peter Navo, III passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at the age of 61. Melvin was born in New Orleans, LA on August 21, 1962, to Mr. & Mrs. Melvin Navo Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Bridget, two daughters, Rachel (Brian) Fonseca & Megan Navo, his two beloved grandchildren, Mikayla & Landon Fonseca, his father Melvin P. Navo Jr, mother-in-law, Rose Bianchini, brother, Mark Navo, three sisters, Lisa Schehr, Melissa (Alex) Piehet and Jacquelyn Dukes, sister-in-law, Kim (Charlie) Sellars and brother-in-law, Frank Bianchini Jr. He is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jacqueline R. Navo and father-in-law, Franklin D. Bianchini. A native of St. Bernard Parish and resident of Covington for over 13 years, Mel graduated from St. Bernard High School, in St. Bernard, LA. After high school he attended Louisiana State University. He was a successful and respected businessman and entrepreneur, owning multiple entities across the New Orleans and Northshore region. Mel was loving, compassionate, generous, and most of all a very caring person to all. Mel never knew a stranger and was the most selfless man. He was a passionate and dedicated entrepreneur, working hard his entire life to be a provider for not only his family but countless friends. He enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting deer with his hunting club in Texas. However, his true passion was spending time with his loving family and friends, especially his grandchildren. Mel was unique and irreplaceable, well respected and liked, and will be deeply and dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. His spirit and tender nature will remain in the many memories of his cherished friends and family until they meet him again. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Catholic service at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at 11:00 AM, with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM until service time.
