Nicholas Guzzardo Obituary

With heavy hearts, we mourn the passing of Nicholas "Nick" John Guzzardo, who peacefully left us on Monday, June 17, 2024, surrounded by his loving family in Baton Rouge, LA. Nick was born July 7, 1944 in Pittsburg, CA. Nick was preceded in death by his father, John Nicholas Guzzardo, his mother, Florence Myers Guzzardo, and his wife of 24 years, Paula Braud Guzzardo. Nick is survived by his sons, John Paul "JP" Guzzardo (Bridget) of Tampa, FL, and Chad Nicholas Guzzardo (Danielle) of Baton Rouge, his daughter, Erin Katherine Myers Guzzardo of Baton Rouge, his brother, Charles Mose Guzzardo (Jan) of Amite, LA, niece Kim Guzzardo Terrebonne (Scott) of Amite, LA and nephew, John Russell Guzzardo (Ashley) of Amite, LA. He is also survived by nine grandchildren: Ainsley, Maddox, Alexander, Greta, Anna, Sophia, Nicholas, Hudson, and Vivienne. Nick attended Amite High School. He was a serial entrepreneur involved in various businesses including the amusement business, utility companies, skating rinks, restaurants, nightclubs, gaming, radio stations, motorcycle dealerships, and car dealerships to name a few. He cherished large family gatherings and was known for his Sunday dinners, often creating chaos in the kitchen while cooking. His greatest passion was his family, and he always went above and beyond to support his loved ones. Nick was full of love and never missed a chance to say "I love you." Originally growing up in Amite, LA, Nick also lived in Baton Rouge, LA, New Orleans, LA, Natchez, MS, and Summit, MS. Affectionately known as "Nick John," "Bulldog," and sometimes "Governor," he had a larger-than-life personality and a heart as vast as the universe. He will be deeply missed. Visitation will be held at McKneely Funeral Home in Amite, LA, from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm on Friday, June 21, 2024, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Helena Catholic Church in Amite, LA. Burial will immediately follow the Mass at the Guzzardo family tomb at Amite Cemetery. For an online guestbook, visit http://www.mckneelys.com.

Sorry to hear about Nick’s passing from this world. One of my favorite memories is visiting Uncle Johnny, Aunt Florence and the boys. It was at your home I ate my first slice of pizza and saw my first movie. Being from the country this was a treat. Heartfelt sympathy to Charles Mose, Jan and all Nick’s family I didn’t have the pleasure of meeting. May You find comfort in your sweet memories of Nick.

I'm addressing this primarily to MOSE, But also to all of you So Blessed by having spent a Part of your lives as NICK'S LOVED Ones ! ❤
MOSE and I grew up together ( Since Mrs. Jackson's Kindergarten ca. 1953-54 ) . After years of having lived in South Carolina and after returning to Louisiana but still away from Amite, I was Amazed to see my friend from "the Good Old Days" - Yes, those days were Great Ol' Days - but, he wasn't zooming around Holloway's in what we used to call a "speedboat", one of his favorite things. No, this almost 70 year old "mature"
man was on the PEAK of "Mr. BUNNY" Durnin's roof, "pre-inspecting" it before it was to be sold after "Miss DOT'S" passing !! Our mutual friend, CRAIG TULLOS, was standing near me, so I inquired, "Craig, I Know that fellow, but I can't Quite place him !" ( After all, NICK was out of his Natural Habitat - or so I thought. )
When Craig told me that it was NICK, I Hollered up, "Just because you and Santa got the same First Name, don't mean you should be on that Roof !!"
When he "came back to earth" we got to Visit for a good while and several times after that while the house was under repairs.

Back to my Santa Claus reference, ever since I have known NICK, he's always had a HEART as Big as Santa AND a Laugh to Go With it YES, You have been Blessed Indeed just to have Been Close, both in proximity and In Spirit
I Thank Our LORD for my small Slices of this GOOD MAN'S LIFE
Say your Prayers Daily, Keep the Sacraments and May we All live our lives so that We will See and Dwell with NICK in Perfect Peace ✝❤

Nick John was a life long friend growing up together in Amite. I got to see first hand what an amazing business man he was with a genius mine always making his businesses reach for the stars. He taught JP and Chad so many, many life skills in construction and how to operate businesses. Erin was his pride and joy, daddy´s little princess. He loved his family first, above any other pressing issue. And he loved everybody, greeting the ladies with a big smile saying "hello, sugar, baby, or darling". In a meeting, he was always in control! Everybody loved his good sense of humor, never meeting a stranger. On a more personal note when I worked for him in several businesses , I loved him like a brother. He was always there when I needed any kind of help. Our family and people who knew him have suffered a great loss of a friend with a positive attitude, compassionate heart and awesome creative mine. My prayers go out to JP, Chad, and Erin families.

So sorry to hear the loss of Nick to his family and friends. So very hard to say goodbye to a beloved family member and friend to many. Those left behind will carry his memories as his gift to each. He has joined his loved ones gone before and I feel certain they greeted him to help his transition to his home on high.
