Nicolas Danese Obituary

DANESE Nicolas R. (Buddy) Danese, on Saturday, June 28, 2008, in Orlando, FL, following a lengthy illness. Age 73. He had just enjoyed a week long reunion with his sisters, children and their families. Buddy was the husband of Linda White Danese for 51 years and the father of Alison D. Cuevas (Dan), Kimberly D Collins (Bryan), Joliet, IL, Mary Carol Danese, Nicolas R. Danese, Jr. (Dawn), Jill D. Yazbek, Kyle, TX and the late Charles Robert Danese. He is also survived by two sisters, Yvette D. Gestler and her husband, Bob and Yvonne D. Melendi and her husband, Luis. Paw Paw was loved by his 11 grandchildren, Megan, Brett and Scott Cuevas, Bryan Jr, Chuck, and Jessica Collins, Melissa Danese, Josh Eldridge and Christina Danese, and Amanda and Lindsey Yazbek. He will be dearly missed by his nephew and niece, Ron Gestler (Stacey) and Monique Melendi. He was also the uncle of the late Shannon Melendi. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emile S. and Blanche Falgoust Danese. Buddy was a 1953 graduate of St. Aloysius High School and attended Tulane University. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Born in New Orleans, LAm he was a 42 year resident of Arabi, LA and recently moved to Covington, LA following Hurricane Katrina. He leaves behind his dear friends, Bobby and Pat Trosclair, Bill and Betty Gardner and their children, as well as the children of the late Paul and Kathy Reynolds. Mr. Danese was a previous member of the New Orleans Traffic & Transportation Club, St. Bernard AARP# 1936, St. Bernard Council on Aging and a recent appointee to St. Tammany Parish Hospital Diabetes Advisory Council. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. (in Metairie Cemetery) on Saturday, July 12, 2008 at 12:00 noon. Visitation Saturday morning from 10:00 AM until funeral time. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum. Memorials in honor of Nicolas R. Danese may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Louisiana, 8200 Hampson St., Ste. 425, New Orleans, LA 70118 or American Heart Association, 110 Veterans Blvd, Ste. 160, Metairie LA 70005. Ms Linda, I was sad to hear of the passing of Mr.Buddy. My mom kept me abreast of what was going on with you guys. I remember all the good times we had in your home and with the kids as children playing in the neighborhood. My prayers and thoughts are with you and all the children.
