Dr. Patricia (Pat) G. Boyer departed this life on March 6, 2021 at the age of 63. She was a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, but resided in Black Jack, Missouri for 21 years where she was an Associate Professor at the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL) and a member of the Grow 2 Go Christian Center in St. Louis, Missouri. Pat graduated from McDonough #35 High School and earned a B.S. degree in Chemistry from Xavier University of Louisiana in New Orleans. She received a M.A. degree in College Student Personnel Services from the University of Northern Iowa and a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Pat began her academic career at UMSL in 1999 in the Department of Adult and Higher Education in the College of Education. She was an exceptional scholar and educator. She had dual research focuses on faculty and student issues with the goal of improving their well-being and level of productivity. Beyond her scholarly contributions Pat had a profound impact on legions of students during her career. Many of them spoke of how she transformed their lives with her supportive mentoring style that also demanded academic excellence. As noted by Dean Ann Taylor, ""It is these students who remain the living legacy of Pat's scholarly devotion to their growth"". Personally, Pat was ""the rock"" of our family. She had a unique and special relationship with each and every family member, but it was her nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews who were a major source of her pride and joy. Pat adored and loved each of them unconditionally. Pat was the daughter of Dorothy and Francis Boyer, Sr. who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by sister Carolyn Dade. She leaves to cherish her memory her siblings Francis, Gloria Cherrie, Michael and Glen Boyer, Barbara Williams, Shirley Nolan, Linda Jordan, Janice Walthour, Jacqueline Beard, and sisters-in-law Deborah and Joyce Boyer. She is also survived by a host of loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, other relatives, friends, and colleagues.
