Hey Rachel, I miss you so much. I remember when I was little you used to babysit me and you would get so aggrivated over the littlest things that I would ask you. We had some good times but not enough. I love you and miss you so much big cous.

I will never forget all the memories i have had with Rachel. All the times playing softball in the house with Ashlei,Amanda, and myself.Knocking multiple things down and sliding into things was definitely fun.Or even the times we used to argue about who was going to be on your team.We definitely all looked up to you.The times we even played truth or dare and you dared us to make out with the wall.Or when you made Amanda eat those jalpeno peppers and she pretty much cried because she said she didnt like hott things.Or the time that i was the first one to fall asleep and you and Christy put my underwear in the freezer and i got so mad at yall. That was definitely the good ole days.I miss the times walking into your room to ask you a question and you would be watching friends and you would pause the show just to answer my question but not only did you do that you showed me all the new cloths you had bought and all the recent pictures you had taken.I will miss those days so much. You know ms.Dana said you knew if Rachel liked you and you knew if she didnt and to me i feel like me and Rachel got along just fine and i will always cherish that so much.Rachel was such an inspiration to many people but not just to some people but to me and im pretty sure to Amanda to.To me Rachel was beautiful outside along with inside.I will definitely hold every memory of me and Rachel close to my heart and i will never forget her.To me she was family and will always be.I will forever miss and love you Rachel.

I sit here at a loss for words thinking what shall I write as I'm reading other entries then the words BEAUTIFUL, OUTSPOKEN, BALL OF ENERGY caught my eyes oh how these words describe you but what was left out was VIBRANT, INTELLIGENT AND WITTY. Now that describes you to a T.. but what we loved most about you was your smile, and your care free attitude that you were going to do things your way, on your terms and on your time. You will always be in our hearts, forever in our thoughts and you'll never be forgotten. We love you Rach..
To my dearest Friend Dana, I'm soo deeply saddened by your loss. As parents we are not supposed to bury our children and certainly not one as young as Rachel.I hope you find comfort in knowing that Rachel was loved and will be missed by so many people. You and Phil are in my thoughts and know that I'm here for you. As you travel the roads ahead know that Rachel will be by your side and together we'll remember her life and the love we all have for her.
I love you, your Friend
To my dear sweet Amanda know that Rachel will always live in your heart and may your thoughts of your sister make you smile when you think of her. Lean on your friends as you walk the path of life ahead. Know that Jenna and I are here for you when ever you need us. I love you.

To the Grafe family:
Our prayers and condolences are extend for you and to you. Such a loss cannot be fathomed, but find comfort in knowing that the Lord is in this situation with you, and that His plan is not always our plan, and that there is a reason for everything. She is in a much better world than the one we have to fight every day, and the loss is ours to deal with. Be comforted that your friends care about you and that the Lord is with you.

The memory is still very fresh in my mind of when you were around 6,7 and 8 and I used to pull you in the wagon in the front yard when I was next door at Rebecca's house. You would have these little pigtails in your hair and I would act like they were handle bars on a motorbike. I of course was about 15 and dating Rebecca. Everytime you were outside you would giggle and say, "Mr. Jeff you can't get my pony tails." I can still hear your voice and see your beautiful face. After Rebecca moved away you grew up and when I did see you again I would be in shock. Although, when you were around 15 or so you remembered when you were little and we all laughed. I then saw you walk across the stage with Zack at your graduation and again I smiled at the thought of you running around the front yard with your pony tails. I am very sad for you and the family and I am lost for words. I will have those memories of you and will tell the stories every chance I get. I will always remember that little voice. I will continue to pray for your Mom, Dad and Sisters. God Bless.

Rachel, your were my first baby girl. I loved you to pieces. When you were very little we were more like friends. We would stay up late (without dad knowing) and watch movies together. Our favorites were Steel Magnolias and Beaches. We watched them endlessly. I know that you knew how much I loved you because I told you all the time, but please know that there will forever be an emptiness in my heart until I see you again.

Dear Phil, Dana, Amanda, Michelle, Pat and Phil Sr.,
Our hearts are heavy with grief for Rachel’s entire family. Rachel’s beautiful life and life as we knew it has changed and will never be the same again. We know we must move forward and we’ll find a way to make it from one day to the next but never will a day go by without many sad but also sweet thoughts of Rachel as a child, a girl and the young woman everyone knew and loved.
Rachel had to be smiling down this week to see how many people fondly remembered her, loved her lively spirit and cared for her family.
Together, with faith, prayers and God’s help, we will all begin to heal and find "purpose" in our lives as Rachel recently had. God bless our New Orleans family. We love you all and we will always love Rachel.
With sincerest sympathy,
Beatrice, Lonzo, Nolan and Megan Crosby

I remember very well the day Rachel was born. It was a very exciting day. The first grandchild and niece on both sides of the family. Everyone couldn’t wait to spoil her, and spoil her we did. The first thing the doctor said when he came out the delivery room was get that child some shoes, she’ll be able to walk home. She weighed s whopping 10 ½ lbs. There was no stopping her after that.
Rachel and I were very close when she was younger. I had no children of my own at the time and loved having her with me. I remember the first movie we watched together laying on the sofa, “Little Mermaid”. I must have watched that movie with Rachel a million times. How I wish I could watch it with her again. I took Rachel to her first concert, Reba McIntire. She was so cute dressed in her little jeans and western looking shirt. I think she even had on cowboy boots. From there, her mom and I with grandma and grandpa Martin in tow took her to see Garth Brooks. She thought she was something else.
I was there with Dana and Phil for most of Rachel’s “firsts”, first communion, confirmation and everything in-between. Unfortunately, I did miss her graduation.
Rachel is not alone in heaven. She has a few friends there and a few relatives, but, most importantly, she’s back with her pawpaw Martin who loved her more than life itself.
Rachel was and still is in my heart a wonderful and beautiful young woman. She lived life to the fullest. I will miss her dearly.

Rachel,
I love you so much and will miss you even more. I still remember me and your mom playing together as kids, and then one day you came into the world, and I told everyone you were the MOST BEAUTIFUL baby girl ever. I use to babysit you and I loved every minute of it. Your mom would call and before she would ask I would already say "YES". I was told to let you sleep in your bed, but I would always rather just holding you as you slept. Then I watched you grow, and before I knew it, you were babysitting my son, Tyler. And for some reason, I always felt safe knowing you were with him, maybe because I knew how much we loved each other. You were my neice, maybe not by blood, but definetely by love. As I watched you grow into a GORGEOUS young woman, there was still the part of me that wished I was still holding you in my arms.
I must say I'm so glad you and my brother, Zack stayed so close, he is shattered now, as well as all of us. We all want this to be a nightmare. I would do anything to see you, my brother Paul, my brother Zack, my son Tyler, your cousins Regina and Justin, and of course your BEAUTIFUL sister Amanda sitting on that plastic train in the front yard again. That is the memory of a lifetime. I will always be there for your family, and I hope you are with your grandpaw Martin and sister Jennifer.
I love you,
Stacie Buras
P.S. - We all questioned God as to why, but we know deep down, it was your time, maybe someone needed you more in heaven. You have touched so MANY lives down here, go show all the children how to be "Little Barbie's"!!!

Dana, Phil, Amanda & Michelle,
Today I shared your loss with you at Rachel's wake. I never knew Rachel very well, but, after today, seeing the outpour of visitors, I know that she was a very lovely person who touched many lives. It was very obvious today, that she lived her life with a lot of happiness for family and friends. The love that was in that funeral home today was enormous. How proud you must be, to be her family, knowing that she shared 19 wonderful years of her life with you, and leaves behind a mass of wonderful memories for all to cherish. She will be sadly missed, but, oh how lucky everyone is in Heaven today!
My prayers will be with all of you.
All my love,

Here is a poem that may help you out some if you read it every day to let you know Rachel is OK!
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

My deepest sympathies are with Rachel's family. Rachel was a very good friend of mine through out middle school and high school. We always seemed to love the same celebrities at the same time. I think we were supposed to have a Josh Hartnett night once! Christy, Rachel, and I always hung out and I miss that a lot. After Katrina we kept in touch and talked a bit. What a beautiful person she was. I'm going to miss her with all my heart and soul, but her memory will never be forgotten. Maybe one day later on in life us three girls will be able to meet again. My prayers are with ya'll.

God's Loan
I'll loan you for a little time
a child of mine, he said.
For you to love while she lives,
and mourn for when she's dead.
It may be six or seven years,
or twenty two or three.
But will you, till I call her back,
take care of her for Me?
She will bring her charms to gladden you,
and should her stay be brief,
You will have sweet memories of
her for solace of your grief.
I cannot promise she will stay,
since all from earth returns,
But there are lessons taught down there
I'll want this child to learn.
I've looked the wide world over
in my search for teachers true,
And from the crowds that throng life's lanes,
I've selected you.
Now, will you give her all your love,
nor think that labor vein,
Nor hate Me if I come to call
and take her back again?
I fancied that I heard them say,
"Dear God, Thy will be done"
For all the joy thy child shall bring,
the risk of grief we'll run.
We'll shelter her with tenderness,
We'll love her while we may.
And for the happiness we've known,
forever grateful stay.
But should the angels call for her
much sooner than we planned,
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes,
and try to understand.
To the Grafe family, our hearts are with you at this time in your life. May you find comfort in God's love.

If tears could build a stairway
And memories were a lane
We would walk right up to Heaven
and bring you back again
No farewell words were spoken
No time to say goodbye
You were gone before we knew it
And only God knows why
Our hearts still ache in sadness
And secret tears still flow
What it meant to lose you
No one will ever know
But know we know you want us
To mourn for you no more
To remember all the happy times
Life still has much in store
Since you'll never be forgotten
We pledge to you today
A hallowed place within or hearts
Is where you'll stay
