Rita V Bannister-Williams

Mrs. Rita V Bannister-Williams, daughter of the late Elijah ""BB"" and Victoria""Vic"" Fleming Bannister, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, July 19, 2019 at the age of 82. Beloved wife of Frank J. Williams ""Paw Joe"" for over 50 years. Loving mother of Tonyia S. Rhodes. Grandmother of Kenny M. Rhodes Jr. (Shelly) and Christopher Rhodes. Mrs. Williams, affectionately known as ""Mammy Rita"" to her great-grandchildren, Jordyn (Lee), Jasmyn, Kennedy, Kenny III, Kenny Michael IV and Kaylynn. Godmother of Christopher Braden and Yolanda Duplessis. She also leaves to cherish her memory a multitude of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Rita was also preceded in death by her siblings, Audrey Addison, Rebecca Handy, Fleming Bannister and Mary Lee Sanchez. Born in Louisiana, Rita resided in Palacios, TX for many years before returning home. She was a devoted member of the Church of Christ where she worshipped faithfully. Rita was very much loved and will forever be missed by all who knew her. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life service honoring Mrs. Rita V. Bannister-Williams at Chalmette Church of Christ, 200 De La Rhonde Drive, Chalmette, LA on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at 11AM. Interment will take place in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens at 12:30 PM.
