Robert Kelly Obituary

Robert "Bobby" Wayne Kelly, age 64, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2023. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert William Kelly. Bobby is survived by his wife of 38 years, Susan Laussade Kelly; his mother, Patricia Ann Kelly; his mother-in-law, Shirley Laussade; father-in-law, Alton "Al" Laussade; sisters, Robin Kelly Fulco (Russell) and Randie Kelly Leggio (Nick); and brother-in-law, Alton "Chip" Laussade (Theresa). Beloved uncle of Eric and Alton Laussand, Nicholas Leggio, and Ashley Leggio Farrell (Christopher) and great-uncle to Alex Kelly Fulco, Alisa Fulco, and Gabriel Farrell. Robert began his lifelong career in the thoroughbred racing business as a jockey. In 1991, he became and assistant trainer with Louis Roussell for 10 years. In 2001, he became a self-employed jockey agent where he has succeed the past 20 years. Bobby was an avid sports fan who loved bowling, fishing, and playing baseball. He loved all pets, especially his beloved boxer dogs. Bobby was a native of Baltimore, Maryland and a longtime resident of Kenner, Louisiana. Everyone loved Bob; there was never a dull moment and lots of laughs. He will be missed by all. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive Metairie, LA 70001 on Monday, January 8, 2024. The gathering will begin at 5:00 pm with Words of Remembrance starting at 7:00 pm. Please come with your favorite Bobby story and share with everyone. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Bobby's name to the Louisiana Boxer Rescue at http://louisianaboxerrescue.org/. Online condolences may be offered at www.gardenofmemoriesmetairie.com.
