Ronald Prevost Obituary

Ronald J. "Ron" Prevost passed away peacefully on February 18, 2019 at the age of 79. Beloved husband of Carol McClendon Prevost. Father of Danelle Krupa (Eddie), Stacey Maysonave (Todd), Marc Prevost and Mandy Browning (Scott). Grandfather of Cole, Shylah, Peyton and Cam. Brother of Harry "Buddy" Prevost (Beth) and Sandy Ellis (Jimmy). Son of the late Harry Prevost and Ethel Dejean Prevost Hayes. Also survived by loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Ron graduated from Hahnville High School and Southwestern Louisiana University with his BA in Education and M.A. in Supervision and Administration. After a brief teaching career in Texas, he settled in Luling, Louisiana where he worked for Union Carbide (Dow). After his retirement, he returned to teaching at area schools including Archbishop Shaw High School. He was a very devout man and was active in his church where he taught religious education and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 9933 and the Men's Rosary Group. He was known in his neighborhood as the "Candy Man" and Hahnville High's "Grandpaw" for his indomitable school spirit. While his passing is sorrowful, his life and legacy will be celebrated. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Holy Family Catholic Church in Luling on Friday, February 23, 2019 from 9am to 11am. A Funeral Mass will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org). Ronnie was such a joy to be around. I'll never forget his generosity passing our lollipops to the kids, and adults too if they wanted one. Always stopped to talk about everything and anything. He will be greatly missed by this entire community. RIP, Ronnie! The angels are waiting for their lollipops. Condolences to the family.

Mr Ronnie you will be missed dearly. You were such a kind soul and very sweet to anyone you met. I will miss the songs you would sing and the dum dums you would give. I'll miss seeing you ride to the clinic on your trike. I just want to send my condolences and love to Mrs. Carol and her family during this time. Rest In Peace Mr. Ronnie.

This is a huge loss to our community.... I hope he knew how much all the kids appreciated his treats! He would come by practice and ask me how many suckers to leave on the desk for the swimmers so they could get them when we finished....RIP my friend... we will miss your preseason pep talk this year.

He always came to the Mimosa pool and give lollipops to all the children. He was always a bright soul with a good heart. He will not be missed by just his family and friends, but all people who got to be in his presence. He will watch over us in heaven. May God bless his soul.

Ronnie was more than just a friend to us. He was Paran Ronnie. He knew my husband Anthony since High School at Shaw. When we first visited Holy Family in 2006 Ronnie was the door greeter. He talked to Anthony like he had just seen him the day before. Anthony was lured to the Knight of Columbus by Ronnie and we've been part of the KC Family ever since. We asked Ronnie to be a part of our wedding in 2007. Then with the birth of our first child in 2009, Avery, Ronnie was named his godfather. He would call us up to just sing sometimes or tell a funny joke. He was always ready for a hug at church. Ronnie was a lector, an usher, a singer for a time. Ronnie loved his church family like he loved his real family. We were better for knowing him, that's for sure. We will miss him dearly.

I will miss him calling me just to sing. Just because he thought of me. Our family will miss him very much. He has been a part of our family since 2007, when he ushered in our wedding. He knew Anthony much longer, though, as he was his teacher in High School. He introduced Anthony to the Knights of Columbus right when we attended Holy Family the first time. Then with the birth of our first son, Avery. We named Ronnie as his godfather. Our children grew up calling him Paran Ronnie. Ronnie made himself known all over Luling. Everyone knew him and loved him. He will be greatly missed!
