Socorro "Jose" Galaviz

GALAVIZ Socorro "Jose" Galaviz passed away on July 12, 2008 at the age of 58. Beloved wife of Julia Aponte Galaviz. Loving father of Marcus and wife Michelle Blum, Manuel and wife Amanda P. Givens and his baby girl Amanda Marie Galaviz. Grandfather of Robin Alexis, Dominick, Marshall, Marc, Kross Aiden, Victoria, Curtis, Cheyenne, Chloe Evangeline, and Caden Joseph. Well loved by many including his sisters Bertha, Lucy, Consuelo, his brother Reyes Galaviz, countless nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a few chosen godchildren he loved as his own. A native of Pena Blanca, Chihuahua, Mexico and a resident of New Orleans/Westwego, LA for the last 38 years. Mr. Galaviz was taken over by the disease we know little about: ALS - Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. He worked as a subcontractor all of his life and has been employed by Willow Homes Inc. of Gretna, LA for the past 20 years. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Funeral Mass in the chapel of MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA on Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at 11 AM. Interment Restlawn Cemetery, Avondale, LA. Parlors will be open on Monday from 6 PM until 10 PM and again on Tuesday from 8 AM until funeral time.
