Stephanie Stanley Obituary

STANLEY Stephanie Arculeer Stanley, age 68 years, died on Wednesday, April 27, 2005 of complications from a toxic prescription drug reaction. Beloved wife of Howard Cromwell Stanley. Daughter of the late Thomas Edward Arculeer and Shirley Pender Arculeer. Loving mother of Enid Shawn Poole Gorringe, Erin Marie Poole, Eve Arculeer Stanley Londo and Stephanie Ann Stanley and grandmother of Thomas Glynn Gorringe, Bailey Grace Blossman, Zoe Shawn Gorringe, Doran Foster Londo, Brennan Muriel Blossman, Kael Ariel Londo and Benjamin Poole Gorringe. Mother-in-law of Shane Anthony Gorringe. Future mother-in-law of John Christopher Reams. Stephanie was born in New Orleans, LA on December 28, 1936, the daughter of a ballet dancer and a Louisiana Bar Pilot. She attended St. Rita Grammar School and graduated from Isidore Newman High School in 1954. She earned a bachelor's degree from LSU, where she studied journalism, music and literature. From her first marriage she had daughters, Enid and Erin, and was divorced in 1965. In 1967 she married Howard Cromwell Stanley, also of New Orleans, and from their marriage she had daughters, Eve and Stephanie. Stephanie was a champion fencer, avid golfer, gifted gardener and interior decorator. She lived much of her life in St. Louis, MO, where she was a leader in Interfaith Partnerships and devoted her time to bringing people of different faiths together in dialogue. She hoped the dialogue might bring about greater understanding and peace among people of different backgrounds. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Services at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. (in Metairie Cemetery), on Monday, May 2, 2005 at 12:00 noon. The family will greet friends from 11:00 AM until service time. Interment was private. Another Memorial Service will be held in St. Louis, MO at a later date.
