Warren Pays Obituary

Warren Jack Pays passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, July 25 at the age of 97. He was the devoted husband to the love of his life of 69 years, the late Merlyn Patureau Pays. He was preceded in death by his parents Bernard John Pays and Rosie Calico Pays, and his brother Bernard J. Pays, Jr. Loving father of Craig Pays (Petra) and Darlene Pays Brunet (Bob). Adoring grandfather of Scott Pays (Lauren), Caroline Pays (Gordon Kuehl), Brigitte Pays and great-grandfather of Mallory Pays and Brennan Pays. He is also survived by his former daughter-in-law Joy Morton (Michael), his sister June P. Lestelle, nephews Terrance Lestelle (Andrea), Leslie Lestelle (Karen), his godchild Kim Relan (Tony) and many other loving relatives and friends. Warren was the pillar of strength for his family and friends offering love, support and wise council. His greatest joy was giving, not receiving. He had a long and well-lived life, doing it his way, including spending time at his country home. He graduated from Warren Easton High School and attended Tulane University, where he enrolled in night classes to pursue a career as a Certified Public Accountant. With determination and pride, he passed the CPA exam and established his business, Warren J. Pays Accounting, where he practiced for 65 years. His family, friends, and business associates knew Warren for his integrity, generosity, and loyalty. The Pays family would like to thank the caregivers of NOLA Home Care and Legacy Hospice for their loving care and dedication. Services will be private at a later date.
