I remember Fred and his sons building our second floor addition during the winter months. They'd be up on the roof shoveling snow before starting the day's work. John and I called them "the Vikings!"
Wishing you all peaceful days and loving memories.

It was sad to hear of the passing of Fred. Much of my early youth was spent around the Shortman house on Knolls Road in Bloomingdale. After high school, I worked for him with Mike & Tom and saw him most days. He called me & most everyone "Sweetheart" and it always humored me. He was charming to the bone, caring, and yet a man's man. There is a day I spent alone with him fishing up near the Pepacton Reservoir that I will forever carry in memory. We fished and talked and the sun set on us. We talked about life and he offered his advice, in a time when I was finding my own way. He was a good man. The type you are blessed to meet in your lifetime. May he rest in peace after a life he well lived.

Fred "Butchie" was kind, generous, full of positivity and good humor, always a gentleman, and always smiling. It was truly an honor and privilege to know him. Heartfelt condolences to his lovely wife, Linda, and his sons and their families.

Fred was one of the best. He had a great sense of humor and was a humble honest man. He loved Linda and his family. It was fun to know him,tho we lost touch in later years ,I have fond memories of political times and the whole gang.
