Jerome Congleton Obituary

CONGLETON
Jerome T., III of Westwood, NJ, formerly of Ridgewood, NJ, grandson of former Newark, NJ mayor, Jerome T. Congleton, died peacefully September 29th, age 73. Born in Newark, he attended Verona HS, class of 1956 and was a graduate of Stanford University, paying for his own tuition by selling books and magazines door to door after completing 2 years at Allegheny College. Retired in 1995, he pursued his love of history, namely the American Revolution and Civil War, and genealogy, establishing family ties to Walt Whitman, the Schroeder Banking dynasty, Richard III, William the Conqueror, and Charlemagne. He married Miriam Margaret (Jank) at St. Thomas's Church in Manhattan and celebrated 43 years together before her passing August 6, 2009. Surviving are son John Jerome and daughter-in-law Monina Gazzingan of Westwood, and son Douglas Jerome of Nutley, NJ. A memorial service will be held October 22nd at Christ Church, Ridgewood, NJ, at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations could be made to the Bull Stone House, Campbell Hall, NY and the American Diabetes Association.

I wanted to extend my deepest sympathy to Jerry's family, I am the Bull family genealogist and always enjoyed talking to your Dad at the picnic, getting a hug and staying in touch with Christmas cards..I will miss our chats about family history.
