John Senese Obituary

John Anthony Senese, Sr.

John Anthony Senese, Sr. 87, passed away on Wednesday, December 2, 2020. Mr. Senese was a life long resident of Lyndhurst. He owned several gas stations in Lyndhurst for many years before selling the businesses to attend Montclair State College at night while raising his family. After receiving his degree, he became an auto mechanics teacher at Bergen Tech Vocational School. He later became the teacher of auto mechanics at Lyndhurst High School and retired after 27 years. John also served as both President and Vice President of the Lyndhurst Board of Education.

He enjoyed spending summers down the shore in Lavallette with his family, where he loved to share stories of his childhood growing up in Lyndhurst. John was a very big fan of Frank Sinatra, a great cook, loved watching Jeopardy and rooting for the New York Yankees. He also loved "bumping into" his former students around Lyndhurst.

John was predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Carmen, Robert, Ralph and Ruth Senese and Charlotte Finochiaro and Dorthea Cook. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Pat (nee DeAngelo) Senese, by his loving sons, John "Johnnie Boy" and his wife, Ellen, and Anthony "Dee" and lifetime love, Tina Macrina, by his dear grandchildren, Johnna and Bobby and his cherished great grandchildren, Luna and Emily.
