The first time I played with Stu was in 1977 when I was playing lead for Tom Jones. We used to play Caesar's Palace for two weeks at a time (four times a year) in the '70's. I was very young and rough in those days. Stu was a wonderful player and I'll always remember how great he played that Caesar's Palace fanfare! I remember Stu taking me aside a few times and kindly pulling my coat with regard to playing and behavior; he was a good guy.

The last time I saw Stu was in NYC during the fall of '07 when we played the show "Chicago" together shortly before I moved to Illinois in the spring of '08. He was subbing for John Frosk and I was subbing for Darryl Shaw. He was always very easy to play with and we had a few laughs that day about how long we had known each other.

What an untimely and tragic loss. He will be missed.
