Aletha Wagner Obituary

Aletha Stubbs Wagner of North Platte passed away Monday on her 92nd birthday.

She was born Feb. 26, 1915, to Frank and Encie Stubbs north of Amherst.

She was the second oldest of 12 children. After graduation in 1931 from Miller High School, she worked in Kearney for the Theiler family.

On April 20, 1940, she married Albert E. Wagner in the North Platte Methodist Parsonage. They lived south of Paxton until Albert was employed with the Union Pacific Railroad in 1942, at which time they made their home in North Platte. They were members of the United Methodist Church, Masonic Temple and Eastern Star, UPRR Old Timers, and the Red Dale Campers Association.

Aletha loved being at her family's gatherings and enjoyed the company of neighbors and friends throughout her life. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, embroidering, reading, dancing, playing cards, bowling and being a mother.

Albert and Aletha had four children: Roy (Patricia) Wagner of North Platte, Lloyd (Judy) Wagner of Goodyear, Ariz., Karen (Michael) Kellis of Omaha and Sally Mahoney. They had three grandchildren: Jennifer (Tim) Anderson of Kirksville, Mo., Mitchell (Rebecca) Wagner of North Platte and Gregory (Wendi) Jeffers of Lincoln. Aletha felt greatly blessed for her grandchildren and really enjoyed sharing their lives and activities. There are six great-grandchildren: Joshua and Nicole Anderson, Gabriella and Roy Cyrus Wagner, and Eli and Grace Jeffers. She has six remaining siblings: Jack Stubbs of Denver, Mildred Whitesel of North Platte, Twila Kudera of Canada, Loy Huffman of Kearney, Charles Stubbs of Kearney, and Ermine Albrecht of Riverdale.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert; three brothers, Orval, Ben and Grover Stubbs and infant twin siblings, Doris and Duane Stubbs.

Online condolences may be shared at www.carpentermemorial.com. A memorial has been established in her name.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 1, 2007, at Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte with the Rev. Cathy Cole officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens.

SORRY ABOUT DLETHA. HER FATHER WAS MY UNCLE.

Moiya Stubbs

February 28, 2007

I am so sorry to hear about the death of Aletha. Although I never met her, she was my cousin. My great-great-grandfather, Jason Stubbs, and her great-grandfather were brothers, born in Tennessee, moved to Illinois before the Civil War, and both ended up in the MidWest (Jason in Iowa, her great-grandfather in Nebraska). My great-grandfather, William Stubbs, also moved to Nebraska. Please accept my sympathy on your loss.
