Chrystal Dawn Johnson

Chrystal Dawn Johnson of Hershey unexpectedly died July 2, 2022, at Great Plains Health. She was 55 years old. Chrystal, the daughter of Joseph and Kathleen Johnson, was born on March 29, 1967, in Chadron. She grew up in Hershey where she graduated from high school in 1985 and then attended Mid-Plains Community College. Chrystal hired on with the Union Pacific Railroad and worked as a switchman. Due to an injury while on the job, she was unable to work for several years. In 2010, she moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa, eventually returning to Hershey 11 years later where she worked at Kelsey's Bar. Chrystal loved animals, flowers and being outside. She also liked to fish. She especially loved spending time with her family and being with her sister's children, Colby, Olivia and Dalton. Chrystal was taken from us all too soon and will forever be missed and loved. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Johnson; and her mother, Kathleen Johnson Miller. Survivors include her sister, Misty (Lyle) Rhoten of Omaha; her brother, Tyler Johnson of Lincoln; stepfather, Bruce Miller of Hershey; and nieces, nephews and other family. Celebration of life is 11 a.m. Thursday, July 7, at Odean Colonial Chapel with Pastor Mark Baldwin officiating.
