Joan "Jo Ann" Eddins

1938 - 2021

Joan "Jo Ann" Eddins, 83, of North Platte passed away on Dec. 8, 2021, at Great Plains Health. Joan was born on Feb. 20, 1938, in North Platte to Arthur Albert and Bernice (Purcel) Staples. She grew up in North Platte, attending school at North Platte Public Schools. She was employed by an attorney for a time and worked at DeKalb while attending night school before starting a career with Production Credit Association where she worked for 25 years. Joan finished her career working at the North Platte Opportunity Center for many years. On July 22, 1962, she married Thomas Eddins in North Platte. Joan was a member of the Prairie Lake Boat Club, loved to square dance and her family was the center of her life, she always put them first. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; siblings, Wally Staples, Keith Staples, Doris Motsinger, Norma Gale, Elsie Jacoby, Geraldine Gilbert and Barb Johansen. Survivors include her children, Kristy (Preston) Keys of North Platte, Sherry (Matt) Schneckenburger of Yates City, Illinois, Gale (Lynne) Eddins of Parker, Colorado, Heather Serrano of Lincoln and Nate Eddins of North Platte; five grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Jack (Carolyn) Staples of Portland, Oregon, Clarice Rule of Chicago, Judy (Mike) Grassmeyer of Kearney, Karen (Ted) Miller of Lewellen, Jean Smith of Missouri and Betty (Bill) Denton of California; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Jeremy Rinke officiating. Dinner and a reception will follow at Harvest Christian Fellowship. Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m., with family receiving friends 5-7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 10, at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
