John Bacon Obituary

John Carroll Bacon, age 56, a resident of Strasburg, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2012, at his residence.

A funeral service for Mr. Bacon will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 8, 2012, at Stover Memorial Chapel with Sonya Giersch officiating.

He was born in Baltimore, Maryland on August 17, 1955, a son of the late John Edward and Helen Bobbie Rose Calagaras Bacon.

Johnny had a long history of collecting and selling antiques but his true passion has been working with and owning Australian Sheppards. He is survived by his dog and best friend, Sheila.

Survivors include a sister, Frances Myers and husband Guy Myers of Fairfield Pennsylvania; a brother, Michael Bacon of Gettysburg Pennsylvania; one niece, Stacy Sechrist and her husband David Sechrist along with 2 great nephews, Matthew and Alexander Sechrist; one great-niece, Chloe Sechrist of Florida; and a host of great friends.

The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorial contributions to SPCA, 115 Featherbed Lane, Winchester, VA 22601 or American Cancer Society, 2654 Valley Avenue, Suite B, Winchester, VA 22601.

Although the time I spent working with John was brief, his impact on my life was huge... and for that I am always grateful.
To John's family & friends... Although it's difficult to see beyond the sorrow today, may looking back in memory help comfort you tomorrow.

I am so sorry to hear of John's passing; I remember seeing him walking in Strasburg with his beautiful dog because I am such a huge dog lover and have 4 of my own; 3 of which are Collies. I waited on him at a bank for many years and at a convenience store in Strasburg. He was an extremely nice man and I am sure Sheila will miss him terribly.
