Steven Wilson Obituary

Steven Scott Wilson
Steven Scott Wilson, age 45, of Crystal Lake, passed away on June 19, 2025.
Steven was born on February 22, 1980, in Melrose Park, Illinois. He graduated from Jacobs High School in Algonquin, where he played football and was the drummer in a local band. On August 19, 2006, he married Candice Lea (Cleaveland) in Lake in the Hills, where they built a beautiful life together and raised their two children, Steven Ray and Ginger Lea.
Steven was a proud union Teamster with Local 637 in Roselle, dedicating nearly two decades to his work. He was a devoted father who loved cheering on his son's hockey team and his daughter's cheer squad. His family was his greatest joy. He loved them fiercely and was known for his kind and generous spirit-he truly would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.
A loyal Chicago sports fan, Steven could often be found in front of the TV, passionately rooting for the Bears, Cubs, and Blackhawks when he wasn't with his family.
Steven was preceded in death by his uncle, William Wilson; his grandmothers, Claire Wilson (Shaw) and Jean Hansen (Smith); and his grandfathers, Herbert Wilson and Richard Hansen.
He is survived by his loving wife, Candice; his children, Steven Ray and Ginger Lea; his parents, Steven Alan Wilson and Cindy Lee (Hansen); his brothers, Richard Wilson and Joseph (Lina) Wilson; his nieces, Savannah and Isabella; his nephews, Gabriel, Isak, and Avil; his sister-in-law, Jessica McMullen; his brother-in-law, Justin McMullen; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
A Memorial Visitation will be held Sunday, June 29, from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1:30 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. In honor of Steve, please come dressed in blue to help bring light to this heavy time.

I am crushed to hear this news. I was Steve's line coach at Jacobs HS. He was a great player and an even better young man. I send all my best to his family and will be praying for all of you during this difficult time.
