First and foremost, I wish to extend my most deepest, sincerest heartfelt condolences to the entire Family of Mr. Dr. David Chube.

My Prayers and GOD'S BLESSINGS OF COMFORT AND STRENGTH FOR YOU ALL IN THIS TIME OF GREAT SORROW...

I met Dr. Chube back in the 60's while I was working as a young carpenters apprentice under the instructions of my late Father, Mr. Willie Lee Sr., the owner of "Lee's Builders Construction company."
Dr. Chube referred to my Father as his personal carpenter. He once told me that my Father was the best carpenter that he knew and he also spoke of the sincere respect he had for my Father. That in itself gave me great respect for Dr. Chube.

My Father also had great respect for Dr. Chube and always spoke very highly of him. And I could see that they were good Friends.

Dr. Chube was a great man of integrity, intelligence, professionalism, etc... And most of all, he was humble. And as a youngster, I saw him as a positive adult figure.

I have fond memories of talking to Dr. Chube on occasions while doing remodeling jobs at his home that my Father had built in the Miller area of Gary, IN.
I Especially remember when he discovered that I was a musician. He expressed his interest and love for the musical arts. We would talk about his favorite jazz artists and some of his favorite tunes. I was amazed at his musical knowledge! "It was like talking to the cats I toured and recorded with in the music circuit." Dr. Chube was a real cool guy!...
Another great memory I recall while working
& doing an install at his residence, was being introduced to a keyboard instrument that he owned called the "Acrosonic Piano." It had an amazing sound that I had never heard before! During a lunch break, he allowed me to play it and I was totally blown away from the sound it produced! I immediately realized that Dr. Chube was a music officianaro!

I've always had the utmost respect for Dr. Chube which continued to this very day.
Even after the passing of my own Father, the late Mr. Willie Lee Sr., I would occasionally stop by Dr. Chube's office in Gary, IN. while on break between gigs and concert tour dates just to say hi, chat and just to let him know how much I appreciated him.
"I saw him as a really cool guy whom I fully respected."
I will always remember him as one of the most influential people in my life.

May my Friend, Mr. Dr. David and Rest in Eternal Peace.
He will truly be missed....

I was a Means Manor neighbor and remember waving at Dr. Chube as he drove home in his brown Jaguar! In fact, we were playing in the street and he honked the horn for us to get out of the way, but we enjoyed seeing him drive by! He left an indelible mark in Gary and the medical profession. Rest well Dr.Chube.

A Tribute to

DAVID D. CHUBE, SR, M.D.

with RESPECT, GRATITUDE, and LOVE

I believe the greatest thing that any human being can do is to selflessly help others in need. A purpose-driven life is about service to mankind; it is not about individualism but about community. Great people are great community builders whose life is about giving and not about receiving. As a leading physician in Gary, Indiana for more than a half century, mentor and friend, Dr. Chube helped many in the city of Gary and Northwest Indiana. In my humble estimation, people who help others, are the greatest people on earth!

I met Dr. Chube, Sr. in the early 1960s during the most impressionable years of my life. His empathy, dedication, and service to others was readily apparent! I interacted as an extended part of the Chube Clan of Madison Lane in Means Manor along with our mother, Mrs. Shirley Chube and my brothers and sisters David, Julie, Randy, Daphne, and Shirley. Dr. Chube was a surrogate father and role model to me. He led by example and instilled appropriate behaviour, boundaries, empathy and many other important social skills that shaped and will remain with me for my life. I especially recall the swagger of Dr. Chube and the sound of his voice as he cheerfully (and quite confidently) sang the Aqua Velva Ice Blue aftershave commerical song after shaving and preparing for another day of service to others. There was truly something very special about this Aqua Velva man!! This tall, handsome, even tempered, and engagng gentleman who spoke with a slight Louisiana Cajun/Creole accent inspired us to always do our best and to help others. As the Chube Clan and I prepared to ride together to Holy Angels Cathedral School, I specifically remember Dr. Chube, who affectionately nick named me Le professeur", always encourage us to be disciplined and adjust our mental attitude and perspective. He thought it was very important to have a solid foundation and eat a full breakfast each day. He said...Eat your breakfast (Julie...little girl, eat your eggs!!) and drink your milk! On weekends, early in the morning, between my favorite cartoons, I would run to the living room window to receive a wave of encouragement from Dr. Chube as he would cruise by in his brown Jaguar XK-E convertible or blue Cadillac Eldorado with his medical bag on the passenger seat beside him to make house visits and rounds at Methodist and Mercy hospitals. This occurred every weekend morning like clockwork until one unnamed member of the Chube Clan decided to act as a gas station attendant and tanked up Docs Jag with an alternative fuel source from the garden hose! On that day I witnessed the not so calm side of Doc! It took a village to raise us youngsters in Gary, Indiana.

I have the utmost RESPECT for Dr. David D. Chube, Str., a consummate gentleman and role model who exhibited qualities that I liked and aspired to and never exhibited a trait that I abhorred! And so, it is with a sense of profound GRATITUDE that I celebrate fond memories and value indelible impressions, of Dr. David D. Chube, Sr. I am so very fortunate to have had him in my life as a friend and role model.

Dr. Chube, Sr. has now transitioned to a heavenly existence, the scripture of Matthew 25:23 is most apropos...

...Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.

With the utmost RESPECT, profound GRATITUDE, and eternal LOVE, I pray for Docs soul to be at rest and eternal peace...he lived an extraordinary purpose-driven life as a faithful servant of our GOD.

The Lords Blessings,

Jeff Janizek
