Grover Malott Obituary

GROVER P. MALOTT CROWN POINT, IN Grover P. Malott, age 75, of Crown Point, IN, passed away at 3:15 am on Thursday, November 14, 2013. During this past eight months and until his last breath, Grover faced bile duct cancer boldly and courageously. He died surrounded by and in the arms of his family. The strength of his essence will always be remembered. In 1960, Grover chose Rosemary, his wife of 53 years, to come on board his train called life. Connections were made along the way. He became the proud father of two sons: Tim Malott and Jeff Malott. Joining him on his journey through life were his two much loved grandchildren: Ben Malott and Marissa Malott. His daughter- in-law, Debbie Malott, was a loving addition to his family. He enjoyed being an uncle to his nieces and nephews: Mary Malott, Jimmy Malott, Mike Malott, Loretta Figgins, Gary Crews, Kim Greene, and Scott Kruger. His sister-in-law of 53 years, Judy Kruger, also brought joy into his life. Grover was preceded in death by his father and mother, Harvey and Ethel Malott; his three siblings: Jack Malott, Shirley Whitler, and Pug Malott; and his nephew, Russell Ray Crews. He also endured the loss of his parents-in-law, Lavern and Aline Kruger, and brother-in-law, Jerry Kruger. Grover retired after 30 years from the Ford Motor Company Stamping Plant in Chicago Heights, IL, and was a proud member of the UAW local 588. After retiring from Ford, Grover relished many aspects of working with his family in his business, Big League Collectibles, in Crown Point, IN. We, as a family, are thankful that in our lives we were loved by Grover. We have honored his requests to be cremated and to forego a funeral service. If one feels the need to honor Grover's life, the family suggests donations be given in his memory to the Crown Point Community Foundation, 115 S. Court Street, Crown Point, IN 46307. Phone: 219-662-7252. Thoughts from the family: "Grandpa, whenever I would spend the night I would wake up very early and walk out into the kitchen where you always were, and you comforted me in the mornings."- Marissa. "I was very blessed to have Grover in my life, and we both loved Da Bears and John Wayne." - Moe. "You could never quite get my order right at McDonald's, but you could do everything else." - Ben. "I owe this man a debt of gratitude for raising such a good man to be my husband. You're the best father-in-law ever, again, the only father-in-law." -Debbie "The strongest man I ever knew."-Tim "You shared cheese with me and made sure I stayed around!" - William "Dad, you are my father but most of all you are my best friend. You have taught me everything! Thank You, your loving son." - Jeff "I am so thankful you happened into my life. I love that you picked me."- Rosemary Job well done, Grover. Job well done.

Rosemary, Jeff and Tim - Just found out today about the passing of Grover. Did not realize when I saw Jeff at the hospital on Tuesday just how sick he was because my wife was in the middle of surgery at the time. All I know is that Grover was a good man and will be missed by anyone that knew him. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
