HELEN L. HANICQ PORTAGE, IN Helen L. Hanicq, age 91 of Portage, formerly of Brunswick area of Gary and Hobart. She was a member of St. Bridget Church, Ladies Auxiliary of V.F.W. in Hobart. Preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Hanicq; sister: Mary Nordquist; brothers: Peter, Joseph, Alex and John Smar. Survivors, two sons: Gerald (Barbara) Hanicq of Hebron, Peter (Melanie) Hanicq of Valparaiso; four grandchildren: Jackie (Jason) Moellering of Schererville, Jeffrey Hanicq of Hebron, Peter and Rachel Hanicq of Valparaiso; two brothers: Paul (Shirley) Smar of Merrillville, George (Joanne) Smar of Oswego, IL. Friends may visit from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday at Rendina Funeral Home, 5100 Cleveland St., Merrillville. She will be taken DIRECTLY to St. Bridget Church at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday for visitation until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Dominic Bertino officiating. Burial in Calumet Park Cemetery.
