James Springsteen Obituary

JAMES ALLEN SPRINGSTEEN LOWELL, IN James A. Springsteen, 79, of Lowell, died Thursday, July 19, 2012 at his home. He was born December 16, 1932 in (Marktown) East Chicago, IN to Louis E. and Ruth K. (Voight) Springsteen. He was preceded in death by his parents; oldest son, James E; and sisters: Sharon Nagel and Jean Bart. He is survived by wife, Phyllis Jean (nee Lashbrook), whom he married on March 6, 1953, in Hessville; sons: Cecil (Gwen) and John W.; and brother, Warren, of Prattville, AL. He was retired from Globe Industry, of Lowell, IN. James also served in the U.S. Army for two years during the Korean Conflict. He was well known for his gentle, kind-hearted way to family and friends alike. His loved spending time as a 'Shade Tree Mechanic' and fishing the Kankakee and Mississippi Rivers. Jim will truly be missed by all! God speed! A private funeral service was conducted by Sheets Funeral Home, Lowell.

I'm so glad I got to see Uncle Jim when I was home before July 4th--but I didn't realize it would be the last time. He will be missed and always remembered.

Phyllis, John, and Andy,

I am sorry to hear about Jim's passing. I have so many wonderful memories of all of you. Jim was always a gentle soul , patient fisherman, and such a wonderful family friend. We have been honored to have shared time with him.
