Nancy Singleton Obituary

NANCY M. SINGLETON OGDEN DUNES, IN FORMERLY OF HAMMOND
Nancy Mae Singleton, age 78, passed away suddenly February 1, 2014. She is survived by her life partner of 35 years, Ernest E. Larson. Preceded in death by her loving parents: Emilie and Palmer C. Singleton; brothers and sisters: Palmer C. and Susie Singleton, David G. Singleton, Barbara (Singleton) and John N. Connor, Clementine (Singleton) and Nick Morfas. Nancy is survived by her sister-in-law, Virginia Singleton (late David); beloved nieces and nephews: Sarah M. Singleton, Palmer C. Singleton, David G. (Olivia) Singleton, Stephen C. (Nancy) Singleton, Catherine Connor (David) McNary, Barbara Connor Corcoran, John N. Connor, Jr., Kerry C. Connor, Chris N. Morfas, Peter (Kathy Schwartz) Morfas, and Amy S. Morfas; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews, and dear friends. Nancy grew up on Van Buren Street in Hammond, IN. Following in the footsteps of her sisters, Nancy was a cheerleader at Hammond High School, graduating in 1953. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Indiana University in 1957. Nancy worked many years at the American Hospital Association, the Peace Corps and at the Office of Civil Rights. Dearly loved by her family and friends, Nancy’s smile, quick wit, intellect and warmth will be greatly missed by all. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nancy’s memory to Indiana University, Indiana University Foundation, PO Box 500, Bloomington IN 47402 and designated for the College of Arts and Sciences, Sociology Development Fund. A memorial service will be held in the spring.
