Dr. Norman Lee Passmore, Jr., age 82, of East Chicago, passed away on Friday, August 8, 2025, at Community Hospital in Munster.
He is survived by a niece, Delisa (Eric Sr) Moss of Gladstone, Mo.; a nephew, James Henderson of Lexington, Ky.; a sister, Ruth Ann Scott of Lexington, Ky..; three grandnieces, Lauren and Lilly Moss, Jasmine Flores; a grandnephew, Eric Moss, Jr.; a great-grandniece Victoria; two great-grandnephews, Bennett and Kason; loving cousin and caregiver, Myrna (Derrick) Frith Hackett; devoted cousins, The Rev. Constance Jones, The Rev. Cheryl (William) Frith Brown, Mary Beth Frith and Carroll Coty; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025, 11 a.m., at St. Mark AME Zion Church, 4200 Alder Street, East Chicago, with visitation from 9 to 11 a.m., prior to the funeral service. The Rev. Dr. Derrick Simmons, pastor, The Rev. Constance Jones, officiating. Interment at Fern Oaks Cemetery in Griffith.
Dr. Passmore was a retired Educator and Dean of the School City of East Chicago, former basketball coach at West Side Junior High School and an Elder at Zion Lutheran Church in Chicago, Illinois.
