Bob was an ultimate competitor. Your best friend but once you walked onto the racquetball court- lookout! He was out to WIN! Then after the match onto sipping some cold Margaritas together rehashing the match. Great times I´ll never forget.

I came to know Bob through racquetball tournaments. He and I had many many intense competitive matches. All good natured. He loved to compete. He was 11 years my senior but you would never know it from his play. A small group of us played regularly in Munster Indiana. Fernando Urzua, Ron Mendoza, and myself to name a few. After playing, Bob would ALWAYS go into the steam room- religously! After his "cleansing" we'd all get together and head out to Chichi's on Torrance Ave in Lansing. They offered cheap Margaritas and all the free bean and cheese dip you can eat. Man did stack we stack up plates of beans and cheese-ALMOST to the point of embarrassment. Those were the good ol' days-laughing and trash talking. I can still see and hear his laughter! I've missed Bob over the years and didn't reconnect with him until I moved here to Glendale AZ. I soon invited him to visit and he came over immediately and we of course rehashed those good ol' racquetball days at Omni 41( as it was called back then). At the time of our over due get together his father was sick and he was on his way to visit him. That was the last time I saw Bob. We spoke a couple of times on the phone promising each other to get together - take in a Spring Training game or something. The last time I spoke to him was when I was on my way to Northwest Indiana. I heard on the radio that there were fires sprouting up somewhere in the New River area where he lived. Or that maybe the smoke was getting really bad in the area. I called him and offered him my home if things got a little scary. He was very appreciative and thanked me for the gesture. That was the last time I heard his voice. Before I received the sad news I had recently mentioned to my wife that I needed to call him and try to get together again. I am out of the country from May-October. I wish I had called the prior years. I will always remember the great times we spent together Bob. I will let Fernando and Ron know of the sad news and you can bet the stories will be relived. I will drink my next Margarita in your honor my man. R.I.P. Bob

Mr. Villa was my sophomore baseball coach and driver's ed. instructor, he was my favorite coach during my time at T.F. North and an all around good guy. I enjoyed both his coaching and teaching, R.I.P. Coach.

While I was a student at T.F. North High School Mr. Villa was a Driver's Ed teacher and athletic coach. He was remarkably even keeled whether on the baseball field or in the car with first time teenage drivers. It was a pleasure to be taught by him and an honor to know such a great individual and be taught by him at a crucial part of a young person's life.
