RUTH SPROCH Obituary
Ruth S. Sproch (nee Cutka) 93 of Whiting, passed away peacefully following a brief illness at the William J. Riley Memorial Residence, Munster. She was the loving mother of Dan (late Paula) Haluska, Carol (Jim) Banach, Mary Ruth Sproch and Diane Sproch; cherished grandmother of four; adoring great grandma of six; dearest sister of Martha (Ted) Muta; dear sister-in-law of Nancy Cutka; proud aunt of many nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her two husbands, Emil Haluska in 1948 and Richard R. Sproch in 1995 and two brothers, John Cutka and Milt Cutka. Private funeral services were held on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting with the Rev. John Henry of the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Whiting, officiating; interment followed at Concordia Cemetery, Hammond. Ruth Sproch was born on May 1, 1923 in Whiting, IN to Steven and Susan (Farbak) Sproch and was a lifelong resident. She was a member of the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Whiting and was a graduate of the Augustana College School of Nursing, Class of 1944. Ruth had been an industrial nurse at the Amoco Oil Whiting Refinery for many years. Ruth loved the great outdoors. She enjoyed time in the country, taking scenic drives and spending time in Whiting Park. Devoted to her family, Ruth will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. It was such a sweet pleasure meeting you a few years back, wish I could have visited more with you, but I feel honored to have met you!!! I'm sure you have gotten your wings by now, & seen your many loved ones that went before you!! Rest in peace sweet Ruth, you were lucky to have lived such a long life!!! I know your sweet daughter, Diane is missing you badly, for she loved you so much, taking care of you was her passion!! Until we meet again, please say hello to my dear Mother, Valerie, my Dad, Wendell, my brother, Allen, my sister, Brenda Lee & my sister, Janet; tell them I miss them so much!!
