William "Coach" Pete

WILLIAM STANLEY PETE HEBRON, IN William "Coach" Pete of Hebron, Indiana passed away April 1, 2016. Bill was born on January 17, 1958 in Gary, Indiana. He is survived by his son, Anthony (Stacia) Pete; granddaughters: Ryann and Dylan; sisters: Patricia Passaro, Nancy Pete, and Judy Wilmoth; brother, James Pete; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: Stanley and Shirley Pete; and his brother, Robert Pete. Bill graduated from Andrean High School. He received a football scholarship from Manchester University where he graduated with a bachelors degree in Education. Bill was a retired juvenile corrections officer for Porter county. Bill's real passion in life was sports. Bill participated in football and track at Manchester University. He was the defensive coordinator for the Kankakee Valley High School football team. He coached basketball and track at Boone Grove Middle School. He also coached his son, Tony's baseball and basketball teams. He also organized the Sweet Pete basketball tournament. Bill served as the Town of Hebron's park board President. Bill was a devoted Christian and attended services at the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Hebron, Indiana. A memorial service, followed by a lunch for family and friends will be held at the Emmanuel Baptist Church 769 W 800 S Hebron, IN on Saturday April 16, 2016 at 11:00 a.m.
