William Sikma Obituary

WILLIAM "BILL" SIKMA LANSING, IL William "Bill" Sikma, age 81 of Lansing, IL passed away Friday, October 23, 2009. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ethel (nee Zeldenrust); two daughters: Sharon (David) Pluard and Rosanne (David) Lorenz; three grandchildren: Kelly and Keith Lorenz, and Dustin Pluard; brother, James (Sharon) Sikma; brothers-in-law: Herman (Joanne) Zeldenrust and Harold (Alice) Eenigenburg; sisters-in-law: Laura (Harry) Brown, Elverna (late Rich) Dykstra. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 26, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing, IL. Burial Oakridge Cemetery, Lansing, IL. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Bill was a member of First Reformed Church of Lansing and was a WWII U.S. Army veteran. He was employed for 58 years as a mechanic and bus driver for the former VanDerAa's and its subsequent bus companies, but his true passion was gardening. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Reformed Church of Lansing Sunday School. www.schroederlauer.com

I am so sorry I learned of Bill's passing after the funeral. My deepest sympathy. I will always remember Bill as a wonderful man. I learned much from him growing up in the business.
