ALFRED GOLDSTEIN Obituary

GOLDSTEIN--Alfred "Al" R.

The President and Trustees of Pace University mourn the passing of Alfred "Al" R. Goldstein. As the Pace community extends condolences to his family and sadly acknowledges his loss, we reflect upon Al's legacy of philanthropic support for and service to the University. His generosity was a catalyst for growth and expansion at Pace for more than three decades. As a member of the Board of Trustees from 1981 to 1998, a distinguished Trustee Emeritus thereafter, and Trustee of the Lubin Trust Fund at Pace--Al played a central role in charting the course for Pace during this critical period. We have been able to reach new heights in the fulfillment of our educational mission thanks to Al--and our students, faculty, and staff will continue to feel the full impact of his investments in the University for generations to come. Al's philanthropy changed the very face of Pace University. By creating new scholarships, supporting key investments in academic programming, and launching the construction of new athletics facilities and laboratory spaces on the University's Pleasantville and New York City campuses, respectively, Al helped to create a richer and more vibrant educational experience for the students and faculty of Pace. Most recently, Al supported the creation of a new home for the Lubin School of Business as part of the New York City Master Plan, a multi-year revitalization of our campus in Lower Manhattan. The Pace community of students, alumni, faculty, and staff owes Al and his family a debt of gratitude. His advocacy, counsel, and friendship will never be forgotten.
