ALICE HOFFMAN Obituary

HOFFMAN--Alice Norma Finkelstein, age 80, passed away on February 25, 2024, in New York, NY. She was born on January 7, 1944 in Englewood, NJ and grew up in northern New Jersey. Alice was a loving friend and mother, survived by her sons Daniel Hoffman (Julie) and Jeff Hoffman (Dana), granddaughters Audrey, Hazel, and Mei-Mei, and preceded in death by her beloved husband Saul Hoffman, her brother Jerry and sister Elaine. Alice was dedicated to helping others as a speech pathologist, founder of the Senior Service Center at the JCC on the Palisades, and volunteer for many causes. She attended Penn State and Barnard Teacher's College. Alice had a deep passion for theater, reading, bridge, travel, and spending time with her many devoted and lifelong friends. A ceremony to honor Alice's life will be held at 12pm on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at Riverside Chapel. Contributions can be made to The ALS Association, Temple Emanu-El of Closter, NJ, or The JCC on the Palisades in her memory. May she rest in peace.

I'm not sure what to say. Danny Hoffman, you were my camp counselor at the JCC on the Palisades Summer Camp in maybe 1983. I am so so sorry to hear that we lost Alice. We're close to losing Daryl. Danny, if this hopefully gets to you, I loved you like the big brother I always wanted. For whatever it's worth... Wish you all the best.
