ANDREW GANZ Obituary

GANZ--Dr. Andrew R. It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Andrew Ganz at age 79. He was at home in New York City surrounded by his loving family. He was a family man totally devoted to his wife of 48 years, his two children, two grandchildren, as well as his many friends. He loved practicing Otolaryngology and facial plastic surgery on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, enhancing the lives of countless patients for 45 years. His interests included wine, being a member of the Bordeaux, Burgundy, and Rhone wine societies, as well as opera, classical music, and golf. He thoroughly enjoyed retirement in Boca Raton, Florida and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

WE WERE FRIENDS MANY YEARS AGO & THEN MY WIFE AND MYSELF BECAME PATIENTS OF ANDY. UNFORTUNATELY, WE LEFT THE STATES AND MOVED TO ASIA. JUST MOMENTS AGO, I FOUND A LETTER FROM MANY MANY YEARS AGO FROM ANDY AND I DECIDED TO CONTACT HIM. WE WERE DEVASTATED TO LEARN OF HIS PASSING.

Dear Vivian, Ilissa and Jeffrey: It is only now, August 21, 2023, that I read this obit. It is true that life does separate people who care about each other. We were more than colleagues. We were friends and I spent many an hour in his chair for this and that little complaint over the years. We talked about everything and he blessed me by including his gripes.

I remember our trip to St. Martin when our kids were small. I remember our respective bar mitzvot, and Central Synagogue. And I remember when I organized a gala fund raiser and he complimented me on my choice of wines. I was flying for days after that. I remember Vivian telling me about her parents' Vienna, such an important piece of modern Jewish history.

I cannot believe he is gone. His energy produced its own self-perpetuating rings of attraction. HE was a magnet in the energy cycle of his New York. An unusual guy, a story in himself. I loved him. Bob April

I was patient & he fixed my deviated septum. I traveled from Queens to Manhattan office when I found out he wasn´t in Queens group anymore...even though I live five minutes from others in Queens group...across street from hospital, I still traveled to Manhattan office when I had problems with ear, nose & throat. Today my nose & ears felt so clogged...I said to myself...let me go to Dr Ganz...but maybe he retired..so I googled..& I see obituary ..my heart sunk ...I´m so very sorry. Deepest condolences to his family.
Sincerely,
Lisa Staub

Dear Vivian, Jeff and Alissa -
There are simply no words to express how sorry we are to learn about Andy. We feel so badly for you; Vivian - we look at your house and we both fill with tears. We wish we could offer you some comfort.
Call us anytime, day or night, if you simply want to talk with somebody.
Jeff and Alissa - my dear father passed 42 years ago and I still feel the heartbreak. Same for Marlene and her dear father.
Try to be strong, as Andy wants you to be.
Our love to you, dear Vivian.

I am so saddened to learn of Dr. Ganz' passing. He was a mentor, colleague, teacher, and friend. He was so concerned about his patients' well being, asking me years afterwards, how they were faring. All of his patients respected him so much, as did I.

He will always be missed.
