DANIEL WEINGARTEN Obituary

WEINGARTEN--Daniel Edmund. Daniel Edmund Weingarten died at his home in New York City on July 15, 2024. He was 43. Dan made friends easily with people from all walks of life. He treated everyone as his equal, whether they lived in homelessness or had Ivy League educations. He had an active and engaged mind and could speak knowledgeably about subjects ranging from dumpster diving to world politics. Dan cared deeply about sustainability and the environment, and lived his life in a way that was true to those values. He lived frugally and never wasted anything, especially food. Dan was passionate about music. He listened to and enjoyed music from genres ranging from country to hip hop. One of Dan's great joys in life was sharing the music he loved with the people he cared about. Dan was at his best when he was helping others. He was always there to talk when someone was having a tough time, and it was not uncommon for him to give $20 bills to people on the street looking for help. Dan is survived by his father Seymour Weingarten, his mother Kathleen Grimes Weingarten, and his sister Sarah Weingarten. He will be greatly missed by friends and family.
